Executive Summary:

This workshop is an initiative by our group who are the students of Lord Buddha Education
Foundation (LBEF), with the collaboration with the Nepal Certifying Company and other
supporter on the topic of ‘Effective Technical Writing Skills’ .These includes consultation,
guiding and training workshops which will be held on 14 to 16 july,2019, and the training and
guiding are based on the themes how the technical writing skills can help the employees and
individuals to use the technical equipment and how it makes communication easier and faster.

Technical writing is an audience-centered communication medium that provides the reader


with clear and easy information. Technical writing is present throughout the workplace and is
used as guidance on how to operate new presentation materials, policies and processes.
Technical writing is regarded as a significant element in the field of technical communication.
Technical writing is used in all such fields to communicate information on one or more topics
to the public.

We performed various presentations, games and training sessions for the workshop that give
the clear idea of technical writing abilities and their significance in our everyday life and in the
workplace.

From this project, we came to expand and deliver our knowledge on why technical writing
skills is important and how we can develop it. Technical writing serves as an essential tool in
communication or conveying’s one ideas, thoughts, ideas and views. Hence, technical writing
is a specific type of exposure: that is, written communication on the job, particularly in specific
vocabulary areas.

Subject: Effective Technical Writing Skills Workshop

Respected Sir,

We the student of Lord Buddha Education Foundation (LBEF) would like to conduct a
workshop for the youths who had formerly completed their Secondary level education
program. The workshop is organized to youngsters who are eager to know
professionalism in Effective Technical writing Skills and Management or specification.

In today’s world Technical writing can be a very helpful in communication for projects,
laboratory reports, guidelines and diagrams and many other professional writings. Its
objective is to educate, direct and enable others to use a certain scheme.

We chose your company as it has greater market value and is the center for all who
wish to attend the workshop. In addition, we anticipated more than 50 participants,
which can be readily accommodated in your seminar room. The workshop will run for
three days, 3 hours per day starting from 14th July to 16th July.

By the side of completion in Technical writing training, the attendees are able to present
a framework for organizing and producing technical documents and specifications.

1. Introduction:
We are the group of committed team member presently studying BSc. IT in the Lord
Buddha Education Foundation and deeply interested in doing something fresh. With
our admirable effort, we have finished this workshop about technical writing skills and
its advantages on our future life. It is a great opportunity for all of the group member to
be a part of this workshop and share our knowledge with the young teens.

Our main focus is to build up young teens with the knowledge of technical writing
skills. As of technical writing skills growing needs many youths don’t know about the
general syntax and basic characteristics of this form of writing. They are partially
unknown about the impact that technical writing skill play in their day to day life. As
describing the main area that technical writing serves in their life our workshop serves
as a guideline for communicating one’s ideas, views, observation in more logical and
technical manner. The day-to-day work of the modern world, after all, depends much
more crucially on technological documentation. This seminar defines and serves as an
objective for technical communication. It explains why technical writing skills are
important to all individuals and businesses.

Technical writing is a type of writing where the author is writing about a particular subject
that requires direction, instruction, or explanation. This style of writing has a very different
purpose and different characteristics than other writing styles such as creative writing,
academic writing or business writing. Technical writing can help individuals save time
and money while stimulating the economy. Without excellent technical writing, people
and companies may be discouraged from investing in fresh products and procedures.
Proposals may not be given importance due to undocumented similarities with other
professional proposals. Thus, the significance of technical writing is seen not only in
the professional life, but also in the comfort and safety it generates for readers.

Since our target group is the younger generation, our workshop will offer various tips
and tricks to help a wide range of readers to understand complex data. In the workshop,
the need for a document approach is highlighted. Thus, our main goal is to educate,
direct, and give ability to use a system that can help the individuals to save their
valuable time and money.
2. Program Overview:

This Workshop is a 3 Days program aimed at making individuals or participant familiar


with the Effective Technical Writing Skills. Workshop will assist participant to
prioritize their job and enable creating effective technical document by giving details
of technical editing and how does it differ from other writing.

This workshop focuses primarily on constructing efficient technical skills for the
participants. At 3 days of their session they learn personalized strategies for building a
more effective relationship with one style of their choosing. Participants select one
overall strategy and write an action plan for using it in their workplace.

A particular Framework has been decided by our team which includes different
methodology for creating, modifying, editing, word wrapping, designing and enhancing
their writing skills. Workshop will start with introduction about group members
followed by a small video session with basic terms they should know before starting
the training. Participants watch video segments of works describing their challenges
they are facing and strategies to overcome these obstacles

During continuous session participants are involved in language related games to avoid
their boredom. Some Fundamentals Power Point slides are presented to provide detail
of topics required for building a strong technical skill. At the end of the day the
workshop will be over by tackling some quizzes on the basis of knowledge they gather
during their workshop. The quiz winner will be rewarded with certificate and token of
love managed by our group at ending day of workshop.

At end of this workshop, participants are able to learn how to recognize technical skills
ethics through some general activities conducted during the workshop and are able to
present highly complex information in a simple manner.

3. Program Details:
Day 1:

The workshop will be initiated with introduction session of group members and
attendees present there. The team were planned to cover five questions in the workplace
as a short pre-test to examine the current understanding about Effective Technical
Writing Skills. One of the group members illustrates about the importance, scope areas
and reason behind learning technical writing skills with some benefits and the impact
technical writing skill makes in our life. Then they were generally asked reason behind
coming for this workshop and their expectation with this workshop.

In order to maintain a productive and structured program, we have created basic


guidelines to be implemented during the workshop. The guidelines were made to be
agreed by participants which basically include professionalism during work,
consideration of the ideas of others, and do not interfere when others talk. These
instructions have been released on a chart and attached to the wall for the remainder
during the workshop.

They will be presented a small video about the basic terms they should know before
illustrating the structure and syntax of technical writing skills. And then followed by a
brief introduction video on technical writing skill. Heading onwards a small
refreshment break was given to attendees for half an hour. To avoid the boredom during
workshop, language related 2-3 game will be conducted that could make us to know
about how they use their language in their daily life. A basic PowerPoint slides covering
the subjects required in order to build strong technical skills were presented followed
by a conversation between the trainers and their participants.

At last, a quiz session will be held by making different groups of 3 people about the
related topics that was just overviewed during the workshop. The quiz points are being
noted on the basis of best and write answer and winning group will be rewarded at the
last day of workshop.

Day 2:

An overview and revision of last day covered topic will begin our day 2 workshop.
Following the same framework as day 1, participants watch video segments on the
topics related to technical writing style. As game session begins, we will give them a
long line and will make them to convert it in their own way using their vocabulary and
their grabbed knowledge in workshop followed by different games that could improvise
their writing skills. Now, the attendees were given interval for refreshment program.
Slides were presented which include the video content as manual form in brief way and
followed by formal discussion on topics. And as usual quiz session will be held relating
to the topic covered on today’s workshop.

Day 3:

At last day of workshop, a complete overview and workflow of technical writing skills
is revised to the attendees with their impact in our life. A post-test will be conducted in
order to determine the knowledge and understanding of the topics we have discussed in
workshop so far and to know how well they improved upon participation. The questions
asked during the post-test were as same that were asked in pre-test. These same
questions will be asked to figure out the difference between participants understanding
on specific topics that were correctly understood before and after practice in workplace.
All the refreshment program was conducted as per schedule and finally quiz session is
held and the winner is selected with the highest point in the all three-quiz conducted at
respective days.

At ending of program, quiz winner group will be rewarded with certificate and token
of love and all the attendees were provided with certificate for their participation in the
event. A small speech will be given by our group members for thanking them to make
this workshop possible.

4. Collaboration Team:
Workshops can help to bring teams together and get an understanding on how people
visualize a problem. With the collaboration of our group members with Nepal
Certifying Company (NCC) helped us to provide space and management required for
successful conduction of this workshop. Working collaboratively with NCC lead us to
our collective wisdom to drive positive team outcome. Along with NCC we are being
supported by Nepal Stationery and Kumar Cafe for the prearrangement of stationary
products and snacks. Collaborating with all Teams for the workshop allows us to
complete the projects and initiatives in a more efficient manner.

6. Collaborative Team Benefits
Teamwork allows people to work quicker and more efficiently than people working
alone. Working together also makes people responsible, which makes a large
difference in enhancing their motivation, especially when teams are almost working.
This is said to take place when two people or a group of people work together to
achieve a common goal, sharing their ideas and abilities. Some of the benefits of
collaborative team are as follows:

1. Company advertisement: Collaborative Company advertising which helps


companies achieve their objectives. Workshops can help company to improve
their effectiveness, benefit and trust.

2. Help to understand each other: It helps us to understand each other which the most
evident benefit of team collaboration is that it encourages participants to know each
other. People like to be connected when they have experienced something exciting or
extreme. One of the best ways to build confidence and relationship is to have a
powerful experience.

3. Sharing talent and Resources: Participant get opportunities to learn new thinking
and techniques to work more efficiently and effectively related to technical writing
skills.

4. The group work enhances interaction with professional growth and other skills.

5. Teaches the skills of conflict resolution.

8. Conclusion:
As we have conducted and concluded this workshop, we are able to make people much
more aware about the technical writing skills. Our quiz and game session are the main
attraction for the event. As technical writing uses the simplest and most direct language
to convey the information it leads participants to use the simplest but elegant words
while being precise. This workshop will also provide an opportunity for us to get to
know about participants knowledge of field, their interest and their requirement in
technical writing skill.

We have done some research on our own to fulfill the assignment criteria. Our research
consists website, books and journals. After analysis of different factors of technical
writing skills and it’s important in different organizations we come to organize the
workshop on the topic of Effective Technical Writing Skills.

Working with group to overcome and resolve problems regarding technical writing was
an awesome experience that we have got during this assignment. We have learnt a lot
during the course of workshop. We learnt about planning, managing different tasks,
research and many more.

9. Individual Components: Journal of Experience
9.1 Rajesh Regmi (NP000329)

The assignment is a completely new practice for all of us members in group. In this
time period for doing and completing this workshop it was a completely a new
experience to me. This was my very first time when I took part in conduction of
workshop related to Technical Writing Skills and it was a great time for me to share my
ideas regarding writing skills with the participants in workshop. After many research
and effort we were able to manage all the resource and collaborate with our teams for
the successful conduction of workshop.

As we were unknown about the how the workshop should be conducted our lecturer
helped us a lot for making our group understand about what are the pre-requisite, how
to write proposal letter and other things that should be included in our workshop. As
illustrated by our lecturer we have researched the structure and key points for making
a good proposal letter. This complete research helps us to understand about the
significance of proposal and able to know what a proposal is. We then researched the
topic listed and made a plan for adding game and quizzes in our workshop with our
lecturer's time-to-time guidance to make our research more accurate and briefer.

Thenceforth, by the completion of this workshop we were much more familiar with the
technical writing skill and also with the need of the attendees and their expectation with
the workshop.

9.2 Tirashana Singh (NP000344)

The assignment was based on a workshop design proposal. Group task was a
wonderful experience which is held in Nepal Certification Company Naxal,
Kathmandu, Nepal, from July 14-16, 2019 of three-day workshop in technical writing.
I was very happy to do this work and we began group discussions with members to
share the knowledge and insight of one another.

While our team has many problems during workshop, such as clear views, unwanted
arguments and absence of sources, timing, tiredness. But being friendly behavior, we
could share problems and solution without hesitation, thereby which help in improving
the quality of our task. With the assistance of my team's guidance and idea, I had a
wonderful chance in this group work to effectively and efficiently increase and enhance
my writing skills. We had a combined presentations and activity-based learning
sessions which enhanced participants ' technical writing skills for participants. It wasn't
as simple as I expected, but we got guidance from our lecturer (Ms. Binita Gurung) to
prepare for the workshop.

In group workshop I got an opportunity to meet new people and expand knowledge and
work with others. I understood the knowledge, needs and psychology of people. I had
significant cooperation and teamwork, which improves my general output.

9.3 Rakshya Nepal (NP000330)

Our group was assigned to conduct the workshop on the topic of technical writing skills
and I've very happy that we've got such opportunities to share our ideas, views and
opinions. With the team member effort and hard work, our project has completed
successfully and we’re glad that everyone is satisfied with the workshop and learn about
importance of technical writing skills and its importance in the workplace and in our
lives too.

In order to complete our assignment, we have done a lot of research on the topic and
also visited the company and analyzed its structures and issues so that we can perform
the workshop thoroughly. At first, I was very nervous but at the same time I was excited
too. It has been such a honor to share our knowledge.

I had a wonderful experience working with my team members and learned so much
about the technical writing skills. This assignment has given me a new insight about
group work with an opportunity of learning group skills.
