After almost one school year of learning Calculus, I can definitely say that it’s definitely not a subject that should be taken jokingly. In simple terms, it is very hard. But I also believe that the performance of the students doesn’t purely rely on the subject itself. It has a lot to do with the teacher and the kind of approach he/she used. I was sort of having mixed emotions when I was informed that Sir Villalon would be our teacher on the said subject, because since Grade 7, people say that he is strict, especially my seniors in the Special Science Class who have experienced being taught by him. And yes, Sir Villalon is a strict teacher, but he’s not scary or intimidating at all, which also helped us a lot in surviving the subject. As a student who really likes Mathematics and enjoys brainstorming to solve equations, it was the first time that I had some difficulties in it. The feel was really kind of new to me. But then, I realized that it was just the beginning of pursuing my goal to be a successful engineer someday, specifically a chemical engineer. I want to work harder than anyone else, so that in the future I won’t have any regrets, because I’ve already given my all and done my part. If I may not perform very well on school, I won’t blame and hurt myself even more, since I know that I don’t have control of everything. It’s better to just move on and enjoy my youth every once in a while. For this school year, I believe that I’ve done a great job in my academics as well as in other aspects of life. It was a meaningful and fruitful journey. Not bad, self.
