non-direct related person is not allowed to stand under the
equipment, hands and feet should be away from the conveying
platform. Especially notice the personal and machine’s safety.

8
1.2 Caution items for installation
Environment condition
The installation place must be rigid and without shaking, the working
environment should be without wind, because these factors will effect
the weighing accuracy.

Installation of working platform

Installation of working platform requirements: the four feet of working
platform must be leveled with the installation ground and no
sliding ,each screw of platform must be tightened ,and the platform
up-surface (with the multi-weigh contacted surface) should be
leveled ,and the whole platform is without vibration.

Installation of multihead weigher

On the condition that the platform is stable and rigid without any
shaking or moving, the multihead weigher will be placed onto the
work platform with the help of forklift truck or crane. Non-relevant
person should not be allowed under or near the multihead weigher
except the installation worker. After that, the feet of the multihead
weigher should be fixed on the platform, as the following shown:

10
1.2.1. Installation of waterproof connector

There are five different waterproof connectors in total, namely KJ1(12

pins), KJ2(7 pins), KJ3(9 pins), KJ4(7 pins) and KJ5(7 pins). When
you install the connectors, first of all, please note the sticker sign on
them and make sure they are matched. Second, there is a position slot
on each connector. Take KJ1 connector installation for your reference
as following:

1.2.2. Weighing unit

Load cell is located under the actuator(inside below hook),so during
moving or installation process, don’t use heavy things, external
pressure to force wall hook or hanger hook and rotate hook, which is
easy to damage the load cell, and result in multihead weigher function
failure. If load cell is damaged by improper operation, it is not covered
by manufactory warranty.

1.3 Caution items when running

It is not allowed to touch the weigh hopper or weigh driver unit when
running ,since it may result in weighing inaccuracy even damaging
arm. It is forbidden to open the machine cover to operate before
cutting off the power supply, to avoid electric shock; it is not allowed
to dismantle spare parts, clean, oil and maintain when running either.

Working with packaging machine

After being connected with packaging machine, multihead weigher
and packaging machine will work automatically, therefore, before
operating multihead weigher, please make sure there is no other person
is working around the packaging machine .

11
1.4 Basic caution items
Caution items of touch screen operation
During operating, it is suggested only the finger abdomen should be
used to touch the screen. Don’t touch the screen by using fingernail,
pencil or other shaping tools ,because it will damage the touch screen
surface.

Please make sure all electric fixing is in good condition, and the machine
cover is fully sealed before turning on.

When connecting with packaging machine, you can turn on the machine
and enter into the manual or automatic operation only after making sure
no other people are around.

Operator should wear suitable uniform, do not wear loose uniform, tie,
decoration or keep long hair. To avoid damage, it is not allowed to touch
the roller or bearing.

1.5 Caution items of maintenance

Please cut off the power supply and lock the switch box before
maintenance. Only professional should be allowed to operate. Any
components revise or addition for electric system may affect regular
function and cause safety problems.

You can change the spare parts only 5 minutes later after cutting off
the power supply.

12
Chapter Two System Setup
Firstly user should set up the parameters according to whole packaging system. Please
refer to page 21 to enter this menu.

2.1.Timing HP mode
Tm HP Mode
1.Tm Mode:There are four modes for Tm HP (0-3).Please see the figure on the below:
Tm HP Mode 0:No Timing hopper.

13
Tm HP Mode 1:Two Timing HP doors open at the same time (one packaging
machine).

Tm HP Mode 2:Two Timing HP doors open alternately(Two packaging machines).

14
Tm HP Mode 3 : Single timing hopper motor + unqualified weight rejection
( qualified weight dumped into packaging machine, unqualified
weight dumped into recycling bag ).

2.2 Connecting mode between multihead weigher and VFFS

and signal detection setup

With the rapid development of packaging industry and packaging machines

diversification, the matching modes between packaging machines and combination
weigher have similarities and differences. First, the matching modes between
packaging machines and combination weigher can be divided into three ways:
multihead weigher as master, packaging machine as master and open control.
Secondly, according to different ways of packaging machine output signals, it can be
divided into seven kinds of ways: uniform type, feedback type, several intermittent,
single on-demand, has been output type, ready-type and single-phase type. Base on
the seven request signal types, we classify the type of packaging machines, its
matching modes with combination weigher, and signal detection mode of weigher as
the following:

15
The way of selecting of correct connecting mode: when packaging machine is ready
and no ‘ discharge request ’ signal output, we should use multihead weigher as
master. If it output ‘ discharge request ’ , use packaging machine as master. If
multihead weigher connects with pouch giving machine, use open control.
After selecting connecting mode, please do as follows:
Number 1, Multihead weigher as master: When the combination and weigh is ready,
send firstly the “ready for combination” signal. After receiving the “ready for
combination” signal, the packaging machine immediately send to the combination
weigher “discharge request” and begin to pack after some delay
Connecting methods: The signal connection wire of back equipment has elicited
discharged signal 1 (P061A、P061B,Welding in KJ1 1,2 feet),when using ready
signal, please choose P063A、P063B(Welding in KJ1 3,4 feet)。
Number 2, Packaging machine as master : Packaging machine will firstly send
“discharge request” to the combination weigher and wait for the material dumped
from the combination weigher. After dumping material to the packaging machine,
combination weigher delays some time (can be adjustable) and then feedbacks the
“discharged” signal. Then the packaging machine begins to pack.
Connecting methods: The signal wire of back equipment connects discharged
signal 1(P061A、P061B)and discharge request signal 1(P068A、P068B)directly.
Number 3, Open control: Each time the packaging machine finishes a procedure, it
sends to the combination weigher a “discharge request” within its working circle
time.
Connecting methods: The signal wire of back equipment only needs to connect the
discharge request signal 1(P068A、P068B).
Because there are many ‘discharge request’ signals for packaging machine, in order
to ensure the system work correctly, we add some discharge signal accordingly, such
as: Pulse with memory, Tension without memory, Tension with memory, Pulse
without memory. We will introduce the setup skills of choosing signal detection
modes in four steps: Analysis, Setup, Solution, and Judgment (refer to the above chart)

16
as following:

1. Analysis:‘Uniform type’ refers to packaging machine keep outputting discharge

request evenly.
Setup:Dump signal 1 or 3(without memory).
Solution : To make sure the whole system work correctly ( no material jamming),it
must be used as without memory; (It can be used as with memory when the preset
speed of packaging machine is faster than combination weighers.);if it is used as with
memory, it will result in two discharge in close interval when there is no qualified
combination for one time.
(For the speed of combination weigher is faster than packaging machine)
Judgment:Looking at the indicator light, the speed of outputting signal is the same to
preset speed of packaging machine; when multihead weigher is on pause status,
packaging machine still output signal.

2. Analysis :‘ Feedback type ’ refers to packaging machine will keep outputting

discharge request after readiness until receive discharged signal from multihead
weigher and then disconnect.
Setup:Dump signal as 3(Tension without memory)。
Solution: Firstly we can judge that the dump signal mode should be tension, if it is set
up as with memory, it will result in material jamming.
Judgment:Looking at the PLC indicator light, the light will be lightening all the time
if the multihead weigher is on pause status, and it will be off when short circuit the
signal cable.

3. Analysis :‘ Several intermittent ’ refers to packaging machine keep outputting

discharge request without stopping, two signals for one time .
Setup:Dump signal 1 or 3 (without memory)
Solution:If it is set up as with memory, multihead weigher will discharge material and
memorize the second signal. It will result in material jamming owning to close
interval between two discharges (The speed of multihead weigher is faster than
packaging machine).
Judgment:Looking at the PLC indicator light, it will output two signals and next two
signals with some delay).

4. Analysis:‘Single on-demand’means packaging machine will output a’discharge

request’ signal after it is ready, and it will output next ‘discharge request’ signal
only after receiving ‘discharged’ signal from multihead weigher.
Setup:Dump signal 0 or 2(with memory)
Solution:Set up the dump signal as with memory (when combination is not finished
but multihead weigher can memorized the signal, then discharge and output
‘discharged’ signal), if the dump signal is set up as without memory(Multihead
weigher receive discharge request only after combination is finished, when there is no
qualified combination for one time, multihead weigher cannot memorize the signal

17
and packaging machine stop outputting signal, the whole packaging system will be on
pause status).
Judgment:If packaging machine work first and multihead weigher can’t work, the
signal packaging machine output must be as wave 1; if multihead weigher work first
and sometimes the system will be on pause status (multihead weigher don’t memorize
the signal),and the system work again after short-circuit discharged signal cable,
please use the with memory in this situation;you also can judge it by PLC indicator
light.

‘Has been output type’refers to packaging machine will keep outputting

5. Analysis:
signal without disconnection.
Setup:Dump Signal 2(Tension with memory).
Solution: Firstly we can judge that the dump signal mode should be tension,
‘ Discharge request 3 ’ is not suitable because it takes effect just only from
disconnection to connection.
Judgment:Looking at PLC indicator light, it won’t go if only the packaging machine
is ready.

6. Analysis: ‘Ready-type’ means packaging machine will not output a’ discharge

request’ signal after it is ready, and it will output ‘discharge request’ signal only
after receiving ‘ready’ signal from multihead weigher.
Setup:Dump Signal 0,1,2,3.
Solution: Packaging machine will output a request signal at once after receiving the
ready signal, and it will output ‘ discharge request ’ signal only after receiving
‘ ready ’ signal from multihead weigher again. The request signal of packaging
machine can be see as contact signal,so dump signals 0,1,2,3 are available.
Judgment : Looking at PLC indicator light, it won ’ t be on if only the packaging
machine is ready, and it will spark for one time when short circuit the signal cable
for once.

7. Analysis:‘Single-phase type’refers to it will run automatically after packaging

machine is ready, don’t need any signal from combination weigher, and meanwhile
keep outputting discharge request evenly.
Setup:Dump Signal 1 or 3.
Solution: Pouch giving packaging machine runs automatically, which requires when
receiving a request signal, combination weigher must discharge material
synchronously. If the request signal is set up as with memory, when combination is
not finished but multihead weigher can memorized the signal, once ready it will
discharge material, but easy occurs desynchronized discharging
Judgment:You can judge it by PLC indicator light.
Finally we need to connect the feeding signal(P067A, P067B)with Z conveyer to
make the whole packaging system work correctly.
Description: The other system parameter setup, please refer to Section One System
setup menu or manual.

28
2/. It is mainly used when timing HP mode:0.
3/. This set of parameter table is mainly set for the nut material.
For example , if we want to weigh nut products with target weight 55g,select the
program No. that has target weight close to 55g and then copy to another program
No.(more than 13).From the above parameter form we know the number 1 is most
suitable, copy it to Program No 20.

Firstly, go to ‘Program Setup 2’,as shown in the following picture.

Secondly, select program No 20,as shown in the picture:

29
Thirdly, Set up target weight, as picture shown below:

Fourthly, Set up preset speed, over weight, under weight and correct weight.
Notes:Preset speed of multihead weigher should be faster than system requirement by
2-3 bags/min.
Generally the correct WT is set as 0.

Case1 : If a customer wants to weigh peanut (target weight is 100g) with 10 head
weigher, the customer expects the speed to reach 48 bags/min, how should
the parameters be set?

Analysis: Firstly the target speed should be a little faster than the expected speed
(target speed is suggested to be set as 50 bags/min), and according to the size
and characteristic of the product (to ensure no products jamming when
hopper closing door after discharging product, please refer toP32,P33,suggest
Feed HP Dly value as 22), finally we can calculate the Maxi stable time is 98
on the basis of above formula.

Case2: If a customer wants to weigh fries (target weight is 100g) with 10head weigher,
the customer expects the speed to reach 48 bags/min, how should the
parameters be set

Analysis: Firstly the target speed should be little faster than the expected speed (target
speed is suggested to be set as 50 bags/min),and according to the size and
characteristic of the product (Single piece of fry is very light but with big
volume and strip shape to ensure no product jamming when hopper closing
door after discharging product, please refer toP38,suggest Feed HP Dly value
as 28),finally we can calculate the Maxi stable time is 92 on the basis of
above formula.

Case3:If a customer wants to weigh pistachio nuts (Target weight is 100g) with 14
head weigher, the customer expects the speed to reach 100 bags/min, how
should the parameters be set?

Analysis: Firstly the target speed should be little faster than the expected speed (target
speed is suggested to be set as 103 bags/min),secondly the type of product
is nut(please refer to P32,P33),Feed HP Dly as 22, finally we can calculate
the Maxi stable time is 93 on the basis of above formula.

41
4.4. Setup of sample filter
Please set up the Sample Filter according to the requirement and Stable TM.

Sample Filter: It refers to the capacity of resisting disturbance level of each load cell,
the bigger the value is, the higher the capacity of resisting disturbance
is, but the slower the load cell reaction is. Notes: please refer to P13.

Case 1 : A customer weighs macaroni, target weight is 50g, with 10 head multihead
weigher, expected speed is 60 bags/min.

Analysis:Firstly we know that the product is nut series (please refer to P32,33), Feed
Analysis
HP Dly is 22, from Setup of Stable Tm we know Stable TM is 77,finally we know that
the Sample Filter (refer to P40) is 6.

Case 2 : A customer weighs macaroni ,target weight 50g, with 14 head multihead
weigher, expect speed 100 bags/min.

Analysis:According to the below forms, we know that Feed HP Dly is 22, Stable TM
Analysis
is 98, finally we know that the Sample Filter (refer to P41) is 8.

Summary: when the target weight and stable TM are fixed ,we can improve the
accuracy by improving the value of Sample Filter.

parameterss setup
4.5.Other parameter
Program Setup 1
1. Main AMP
AMP/Main Vibrator Amplitude: It refers to the strength of the main vibrator
amplitude.

2. LIN AMP
AMP/Linear Vibrator Amplitude: It refers to the strength of the linear vibrator
amplitude.

VB Feed Tm/Vibrator Feed time: It refers the period for the main and linear
3.VB
vibrators to feed the products to the feed hopper. Unit as 10ms.

The product fed into feed hoppers is not only affected by Vibrator AMP and VB feed
Tm, but also by the thickness of material on the linear vibrator pan, the thickness of
material can be controlled by the height of Upper Storage Funnel and length of
plastic strip.

Firstly:Control the thickness according to the characteristic of product, the easy

flow product with sphere shape such as peanut and soybean. (the flow of such
products could be pushed by it’s own weight and gravity ). Thus, such material should
not be too thick, products with strip shape such as fries could be placed a little thicker,
as shown in the figure:

Excessively thickness Correct thickness

Excessively thinness Correct thickness

Secondly: Control the thickness according to the target weight of product, such as
sunflower seeds (It will cause ‘landslide’ easily if the product is too thick) ,when we
weigh sunflower seeds, target weight is 100g, if the product is too thick, ‘landslide’
will easily occur.

45
Thirdly:When the material in the upper storage funnel is low, the Z conveyer will feed
material into it. If the surface of the product is very smooth and easy flowing (such as
frozen dumpling and ball gum), product may push others to slide into feed hopper
unintentionally, it will result in bad combination. Suggestion: please install the level
sensor above the upper storage funnel and set up No Prod Pau T as 1.

Incorrect installation Correct installation

In a word, we must ensure there are enough products on the upper storage funnel, and
also take product characteristic, target weight and speed into consideration when
controlling thickness of product.

4. Over Sgl Tm/Overweight signal time: It means the standing time for the weigher
send ‘has dumped signal’ to the back machines when it dumps the overweight
material. unit as 10ms.
5. Stagger Dump Tm Tm: When there is a limit max dump hoppers, that’s to say, one
combination will be divided into several dumping with a certain interval to
discharge. unit as 10ms.
6. Multicomb TMS TMS/Multi-combination Times: it means that to finish one target
weigh will be divided into how many times to discharge. single dosing weight
=target weigh/N, the function is mainly used in big target weight.
When we weigh a product of 3000g target weight, it will cause product jamming
easily when discharge in one time, if we set up Multicomb TMS as 3, it means
1000g each time.
First time:999.5g
Second time:1000.1g
Third time:1000.4g (target weight-dosing weight of last two time),this way can
optimize the final accuracy.
7. Max Dump HPS HPS/Max Dumping hoppers: it means to limit the max simultaneous
dumping hoppers in a combination dumping in order to reduce the block of puffy
products.
Relevant parameter: Stagger Dump Tm
8. Min HP WT%WT%/Minimum single hopper weight%: it means that the single hopper
weight is less than the single combination target weight percent, which is
regarded as ‘low product’ and not allowed to attend the combination, and it needs
feeding material. unit as %.
9. IDLE
IDLE/No combination times: it’s applicable to limit the products remaining times
in the weight hopper. If one hopper is not selected to join combination for N times,
at N+1 times it is forced to be selected and join combination.

46
10 . Dump Sgl Dly ly/Dumping signal delay: Under the circumstance of ready
combinations, the combination weigher will dump material to the packaging
machine after receiving the “dump request signal” from packing machine, then
delay a period of time and send a 10ms ‘confirmed signal’ to the packaging
machine. Unit as 10ms.
For Example: If this delay time is too short, the VFSS machine may start the packing
action during product falling and cause product jamming. If the time is too long, the
VFFS machine may start the packing action till next product falling into the tube.
As shown in the drawing:

Program Setup-2:

A. 0: means to close this function.
B. AFCT, it will adjust the amplitude according to the combination hoppers and it
will give an auto adjustment to all linear vibrator amplitudes;
C. AFCW, it will adjust the amplitude according to the single hopper weight and
it will give an auto adjustment to every linear amplitude and display singly.

5.1.1 Relations between displayed accuracy and real accuracy
One important feature of multihead weigher is high accuracy. The weighing accuracy
refers to the average error between displayed accuracy and real accuracy, of course
end-users are more concerned about real accuracy, following we will talk about how
to improve displayed accuracy and optimize displayed accuracy and real accuracy.

The charts below show the result of 10 head weigher weighing fries of 50g target

5.1.2 Skills of improving displayed accuracy

After understanding the characteristic of common products and how to adjust the
height of upper storage funnel, next we will explain the skill of setup for 10 head
multihead weigher weighing spaghetti.

Introduction of combination principle

Weigher Mode 14 head high
14 head high
8 head 10 head
Combination HP
accuracy speed

1 8 10 14 13
2 28 45 91 66

6 28 210 3003 28
7 8 120 3432 1
8 1 45 3003
9 10 2002
From the chart we can see that when Avg Comb Hps is the half of all the hoppers, it
has most combinations.

50
Such as: 8 head weigher can combine 70 times per minute when the combination hoppers are four
(the highest).
10 head weigher can combine 252 times per minute in five hoppers (the highest).
14 high-precision model, it can combine 3432 times per minute in seven hoppers (the highest).
14 high-speed model, it can combine 210 times per minute in four hoppers (the highest).

The following is the data of 10 head weigher weighing spaghetti with different Avg
Comb Hps:

Average error 0.43 0.07 0.02 0.36 0.08 0.04 0.32 0.11 0.07
From the chart we can see that :
1. The best displayed accuracy occurs when the Avg Comb Hps is 5.
2. The possibility of combination is affected by the target weight, the bigger the target
weight is, the worse the possibility of the combination is.

5.1.3 Skills of improving displayed and real accuracy

1)Three important factors affecting displayed and real accuracy are: installation
conditions, installation methods and parameter setup.
2)The requirement for the relevant factors.
Installation conditions——the equipment should be installed on the stable, flat ground
which is not slippery and windless; indoor temperature: 0 ℃ ~ 40 ℃ ; indoor
humidity 35%~75%.
Installation methods — — please refer to Chapter One. The following are photos of
correct installation and ground wire.

Parameter setup — — Firstly make sure that every weigh hopper is in working
conditions; secondly, check whether the equipment is running smoothly without
products jamming.

The following is the weighing data with different stable time and filter time:

Conclusion: Increasing sample filter and stable time simultaneously can reduce the
error between displayed weight and real weight.
Analysis : Sample filter and stable time are closely related to the error between

52
displayed weight and real weight. When the sample filter increases ,it is necessary to
increase the stable time.

solutionss for inaccuracy

5.2. Analysis and solution
Dear users, if you find any accuracy problems during operation, please follow our
instruction, analysis and solutions to operate, we hope it can help you find the source
of the problem and find correct way to eliminate it.

5.2.1 Optimizing displayed accuracy

From the last chapter we know that real accuracy is closely related with displayed
accuracy, next we will talk about how to optimize displayed accuracy and improve
real accuracy.
When the equipment firstly enters the working state, there are two possible
circumstances:One is that too much product is fed into hoppers due to the excessive
product thickness on the top cone or vibrator amplitude is too strong (Weight of
product in one hopper is more than 1/3 target weight). The other is the machine feeds
too little product (less than 1/6 target weight in one hopper) due to the excessive
product thinness on the top cone or vibrator amplitude is too weak and feed time is
too short. The proper height of upper storage funnel and vibrator amplitude can be
obtained according to actual average combination hoppers.
‘AFC’ principle shows that: When actual average combination hoppers are less than
3, it means there are too much products in each hopper. This belongs to the first
circumstance.
Firstly, reduce the height of upper storage funnel to control the thickness of product.
Please remember to reduce the lever sensor at the same time as shown in figure:

Actual average combination hoppers Original height

Adjusting Adjusted height

53
Secondly, reduce linear vibrator amplitude;

After finishing the above mentioned steps, the actual combination hoppers will
increase accordingly. It will have best accuracy when the actual combination hoppers
are between 4~5;

‘AFC’ principle shows that: When actual average combination hoppers are more than
5, it means there are too little products in each hopper. This belongs to the second
circumstance.

Firstly, increase the height of upper storage funnel to control the thickness of product.
Please remember to increase the lever sensor at the same time as shown in figure:

Actual average combination hoppers Original height

Adjusting Adjusted height

Secondly, increase linear vibrator amplitude from 43 to 45 on running screen.

After finishing the above mentioned steps, the actual combination hoppers will reduce
accordingly, it will have best accuracy when the actual combination hoppers are
between 4~5;

If the number of actual average combination hoppers remains large even when linear
vibrator amplitude reaches 80, then VB Feed Tm needs to be increased too.

54
5.2.2 Product jamming
Diagnosis of product jamming and the solutions:

Firstly : Doors of bucket close before all the product is discharged. The likely
diagnosis is HP motor mode is too fast and HP open time is too short.
Solution: Motor mode slower and increase HP open time, Lin VB Delay, Feed HP
Delay, Weigh HP Delay (with timing hopper).
Notes: please refer to chapter four.

Secondly: Product has been discharged into bucket before doors closed completely.
The likely diagnosis is that Lin VB Delay and Feed HP Delay are too short;
Solution: increase Lin VB Delay and Feed HP Delay.
Solution:
Notes: please refer to chapter four.

Thirdly: When the equipment firstly enters the working state, the combined influence
of improperly adjusted product thickness, larger vibrator amplitude and the easy
flowing nature of the products could all cause jamming to occur.
Solution: reduce the height of upper storage funnel and Lin VMP.
Notes:please refer to chapter five section two.

5.2.3 Forei
Forei gn objects inside weigh hopper
eign
The accuracy of single load cell is vital. It is the foundation of accurate weighing for
multihead weigher. It will affect the accuracy of the load cell when weigh hopper is
not emptied properly therefore affecting the accuracy of the combination weighing as
a whole; the following will provide the guide to check the possible presence of any
foreign objects:

he
firs
t
ste
p

55
The second step The third step

The fourth step The fifth step

The sixth step The seventh step

Notes: Go to Manual Test as the first step;select all the load cells for checking;
check the value of each load cell at the third step; discharge out the products in
weigh hopper at the fourth step;initialize zeroing operation for all the load cells at
the fifth step;select weigh hoppers at the sixth step;check the current value of each
load cell to judge whether there are any foreign objects in hopper. operate the sixth
and seventh steps repeatedly, the normal value of load cell could float within 0.2g; if
some load cells float between 0.7g and back to ±0.2g slowly, it indicates some feet
of multihead weigher have unstable contact with working platform. if the value
floats over 1g, it indicates the weigh hopper is not emptied properly, needs to be
checked immediately.

56
5.2.4 Calibration
Please refer to instruction manual.

5.2.5 Installation methods

Environment:No wind ,no shaking and sliding, and firm flat.
Ground wire, working platform and multihead weigher are installed correctly.
For other requirements, please refer to Chapter one, section two.

5.2.6 Failure of individual hopper

Combination weigher can maintain long-term well running, depending on each of its
components has played their efficacy. The same is the case with hopper, which role is
to collect and store the materials, so that the dumping materials can be stabilized.
Once the hopper loses its role, it will certainly affect the weighing accuracy, such as:
the door of feed hopper can not be self-locking, linear vibrator pan feeds to feed
hopper, which aim is to keep feed hopper store the material to discharge when the
weigh hopper needs materials, at this moment, feed hopper could not be controlled by
stepper motor of feed hopper, regardless of weigh hopper needs materials or not. The
result is the materials drop from the linear vibrator pan due to gravity, seriously
affecting the weighing accuracy. Weigh hopper is the same when the door can not be
self-locking.
Judgment methods: one, you can pay attention to the actions of each hopper. When it
is abnormal to discharge materials, there would be a large door cracks, the size of gap
basically depends on the unit volume and weight of discharging materials, and
sometimes too heavy materials can directly push and open the door; two, when the
door was closed, push the door from the discharging direction of materials by hands,
it is normal not to push the door.
Solution: The self-locking of door mainly depends on the three activity fulcrums
driven by the activity bar of timing hopper. As long as regulating the middle activity
bearings to make them at the same line.

5.3. Skills of optimizing speed

speed

Details observation
Scenario One :the system works inconsistently, please check the screen.

(1) Icon ‘L’ appears frequently which suggests the weight inside the hopper is less
than the MIN HP WT%, please increase amplitude of the linear vibrators.

(2) The number of average combination hopper is greater than optimum setting which
means re-feeding and re-combination are likely to occur, please increase the
amplitude of all the linear vibrators

(3) The product on the top cone is too thin and the upper storage funnel is too low, or
the product is not easy flowing, please increase the height of upper storage funnel.

(4) Z conveyer cannot supply enough products to multihead weigher, please increase
the product on the bucket and the speed of Z conveyer.

57
Scenario Two: The system works consistently, but the speed is less than expected
speed by 2 or 3 bags.

(1) Increase the target speed by 3 or 4 bags.

(2) Reduce the sample filter and Feed HP Dly on acceptable scope.

Scenario Three :The time interval in-between two discharging action ( the end of the
sealing acting and the dump of the next lot ) is too distant, please move forward the
discharging request signal according to the connecting methods.

5.4. Common systematic connection issue

Firstly, product jamming of packaging machine. Please refer to Chapter four ,section
five.

Secondly, Z conveyer does not feed when multihead weigher runs low. Firstly make
short circuit of two receiving signal, if Z conveyer still does not work, it indicates the
problem is within the Z conveyer, if Z conveyer starts working after short circuit, it
indicates no signal output from multihead weigher. Secondly check if sending part and
receiving part of level sensor are at the right direction, in normal situation, the
indicator light is on.

Thirdly, multihead weigher don’t discharge product. Please check if there are ‘U、C、
Q、Y、W’ displayed on the screen, these letters indicate the multihead weigher is ready
and waiting for the request signal, you just need to check if there is signal inputted
when No Comb Action is set at 0. If there is no above mentioned letters displayed,
one possibility is too many heads are disabled, another possibility is the value of Min
HP WT% is too small, the other one possibility is the value of Combn HPS is too big.
Notes::
Notes
1) Working hoppers<Combn HPS
Take 10 head weigher as an example, if one head is disable, another head is
make zeroing, there is just 8 hoppers working, if we set Combn HPS as 9,when
there is no qualified combination, the machine will stop working.
Solution Combn HPS
Solution:Combn Working hoppers
HPS<Working hoppers-11
2) Working hoppers×Min HP WT%<1
Take 8 head weigher as an example, if we set Min HP WT% as 10,target weight
200g, weight of single hopper is 22g, 22>200×10%,8×22<200g,in the
situation multihead weigher will stop working, it is suggested to set Min HP
WT% as 15.
Solution:
Solution:(Working Hoppers-11)×Min
Working Hoppers Min HP WT% >1
3) Combn HPS HPS×Min Min HP WT%
WT%<1。
Take 8 head weigher as an example, generally we set Combn HPS as 7,Min HP
WT% as 10, target weight as 100g, 7×(100×10%)=70〈100(target weight),
meanwhile if another head displays ‘ L’, multihead will stop working, too.
Solution
Solution:Min Min HP WTWT%≥11÷Combn

Chapter Six The connection of combination weigher
and computer
To help you quickly understand the daily productivity and production volume of
packaging systems, our company’s combination weigher series not only can connect
the printer, but also can transmit the statistical data of production directly through the
R232 to your computer, we can see the production situation, packaging quantity of
various specifications, the total weight of product, passing rate and the production
time-consuming very intuitively. We will introduce the whole process of connecting
the combination weigher with computer to you in the following:
Firstly, you need to install the computer connection software provided by our
company. This software requires XP system supporting. Secondly, you need data
connection cable, depending on your computer configuration. If it is necessary, you
can transfer RS232 output port to the computer through the USB interface converter.
Next, we will introduce the whole process of transferring data between combination
weigher and computer:

59
60
61
When your computer's communication ports are inconsistent with
software communication ports, it will appear 'Open the serial port error'
tips, which is normal.

62
63
Please note: You can turn off the software, then open, or choose 'stop
communication' in the toolbar, and then start .

The filter data

basis

Note: This operation has sent all the production records to your computer. In order to
help you know production situation, you need to choose running program number,
target weight, the upper and lower deviation, the start time and end time as basis to
classify the data. Draw' √ ' in front of filter basis, meanwhile it will appear the
specific basis of indicators, and then click 'Refresh', your expected data will be shown
in the ' filter data display area'. Take "Procedure number" as filter basis and
"program number one" as specific basis indicator for example, the steps described
below:

And then click “Refresh”, “the filter data display area” will read the data
in ‘all the production data display area’.

Specific filter basis is ‘program number 1’.

Note: After this operation, we will find obviously that the data records of program
number 2 in ‘the filter data display area ’ disappear.

65
Note: Make sure Save and then close the file, then find the file store addresses to
open.

66
67
Finally, click on ‘Save’, the entire data transfer and operation will be completed
basically. The file is saved with Excel format. We can see the file save address as
follow:

Chapter Seven
Seven:: Weighing of puffy food
7.1.Characteristic
Characteristic: some puffy food is large in volume but small in weight, fragile, not
easy flowing and easy jamming, such as potato chips; some puffy food is small in
volume and also small in weight, easy flowing, such as fries and popcorn; some puffy
food is of moderate volume and weight, easy flowing, such as pistachio nuts.

7.2. Product controlling

Product controlling: When weighing puffy food, we must distribute the material
evenly so that linear vibrator could feed product smoothly.(Such as potato chips, we
shouldn’t pile up too much products on the top cone.)

7.3. Adjustment of parameter

1. Motor mode: Because puffy food is big in volume and fragile, we should open the
bucket as wide as possible so that no product is jammed. The parameter is suggested
to set as 0 or 1.
2. HP Opn Tm: It refers to the hopper door will pause how long time at the widest
position.
3. Lin VB Delay, Feed HP Dly: Because the time of the hopper’s working cycle
becomes longer, to ensure the hopper is closed before product dumping into it, we
should increase the value as well.
4. Stable Tm: Because such food is not easy flowing, please increase the value as
well.

Eight:: Weighing of frozen food

Chapter Eight
8.1. Characteristic
Characteristic: Such food demands low temperature environment. It is easy to melt
and can’t stay in the production line for long. Single piece is of big weight and easy
flowing.

8.2. Product controlling

Product controlling: Such food is very easy flowing. (1)The product on the Topcon
shouldn’t be too thick (reduce the height of upper storage funnel properly); (2)
Product will push each other when feeding, we can install level sensor on the top of
upper storage funnel; (3) Please calculate how many products should be taken from
refrigerating room according to the product characteristic, specification and speed.

8.3. Adjustment of parameter

IDLE : It is applicable to limit the product remaining times in the hopper. After N
times combination (One of hoppers is not selected during the period), the hopper will
be forced to discharge at N+1times.Min value is 11,it is recommended to set as 15.
