Caspian Guard read notes.

Important caveat – prior to reading the sections of the CONPLAN outlined

below, review JTFCASPIAN-CONPLAN-2020.pptx in the Student CD/Drive. It is a CONPLAN brief that
overviews the written product. It should make the “read” parts much simpler. When reading the plan
keep in mind that you are looking at the JTF level. You are looking to identify those items/ entries that
are relevant to the CFLCC (i.e. you). Especially be thinking of items relevant not only to CFLCC, writ
large, but to you and your assigned duties according to the manning chart.
As you plow through the CONPLAN you will find lots of discussion on FDO’s. Anything related to FDO’s
are automatically a SCAN.
Read and highlight on screen with a focus on sustainment mission analysis and ultimate concept of
support. Do not just focus on the Sustainment content, remember you must integrate logistics into all
WFFs.
CONPLAN pg # Section Para(s) Notes
Read SRB page # 1-1 GAAT N.A. This read is not part of the

#s) addresses the same stuff.
Read 8-13 CoGs (enemy) (3)(a), (3)(b) Focus on the Operational CoGs.
Strategic CoGs are interesting but
you cannot influence those. Pay
particular attention to CV’s. Which
ones fall into the CFLCC lane? Those
you MUST target as part of your
COAs
Read 13-14 COAs (enemy) (3)(a) thru You can see graphics of these in the
(d)(3) JTF brief
Scan 14-19 Concept of (3)(e) thru Lots of details that may or may not
Ops (enemy) (6) be relevant/be of interest to you

Read 31-38 Mission & 2. & 3. From this you should see the
Execution general outlines of the plan to
include objective and effects. Think
about the CFLCC piece of that.
Some Scan 39-76 Tasks to This is the Mostly scan through these pages.

Read (look by Phase para 3. components by phase. READ
at what I Commander’s Intent for each phase
wrote in and read the tasks common to all
Notes) and those for CFLCC and don’t
forget MARFOR (hint – there isn’t
much for CFLCC – that is intentional
[so you can create the missing
parts]). Come out with an
understanding of what each
component is trying to accomplish
in each phase. You can largely
ignore Phases 0 and 5.
Read 76-77 Admin & Log 4. & 5.
Some Scan A-1 thru A-1-15 Task Annex A Look at all JTF units (A-1 thru A-1-3).
