THANKSGIVING MASS

Shereen: The Thanksgiving mass is about to begin. Let me remind you to turn your
cellphones to silent mode and be courteous around you by refraining from
talking aloud. Thank you.

Lewis: Ladies and gentlemen, let us witness the processional march of the graduates
together with their proud parents and honored guests, followed by the
administration, faculty and staff.

COMMENCEMENT EXERCISES 2019

The Divine Word College of Laoag Commencement Exercises are about to begin. Let me
remind you to turn your cellphones to silent mode and be courteous around you by refraining
from talking aloud. During the presentation of graduates, we encourage you to express your
pride by applauding and cheering. Thank you.

Lewis: Today, another history slowly unfolds as we come to an end of the school year
2018-2019. It’s been 10 months already that we have witnessed how these little
lads and lasses proved their worth to become a member of this year’s
graduating batch.

Shereen: Ladies and gentlemen, behold the entrance of the national and institutional
colors.

Lewis: Guests, friends, may we also witness the entrance of our honored guests, the
administration, faculty and staff.

Lewis: Ladies and gentlemen, the Philippine National Anthem.

TRIBUTE TO MA’AM GLO

Shereen: Let us give thanks and also honor our ever-supportive administration and
teachers, for they embraced, taught, and molded our children to be better
and independent. Last Friday, the Divine Word College of Laoag, especially
the School of Basic Education faced a tragic loss. Our high school principal Dr.
Glorietta B. Sabas is now in the arms of our loving Father.

Lewis: Ma’am Glo, as we call her, was a strong, diligent, patient, and loving woman.
She was an excellent principal to this institution, a caring mother to us faculty,
a supportive parent to the students and a humble daughter of God. At this
very moment, may I request everybody to pause for a while and give this
moment to pay tribute to our dearest Ma’am Glo.

Shereen: We might have lost an important person in our lives, but she will always be
here with us as we keep on moving forward. As what Mrs. Kristina Martin once
said, “For the coming days, we will continue what she started. She will always
guide us and we promise to give our best to the betterment of SBE. We are a
family and we will always be”.
Continuation…

Lewis: Are we there yet? Have we reached our destination? These are just the
common questions you are wondering of everyday. You've been traveling for
13 long years. You've only had a few brief rests along the way. You are tired
and cranky and everyone wants to know “Are we there yet?”

Shereen: Looking back at your road, you see the many different routes you have taken
to end up where you are now, here, at graduation day. Most of you have
arrived on time. A few are still on their way, maybe broken down or
sidetracked. We hope they'll be here soon. But today is not your destination
or ambition. It's not your journey's end. It's a rendezvous place. A site from
which you will all head out, once again, on different roads.

Lewis & She: Good morning!

Lewis: I am Sir Lewis.

Shereen: And I am Ma’am Shereen, your hosts for today’s affair, and…

Lewis & She: Welcome to the 2019 Commencement Exercises.

Lewis: The month of April is indeed one of the most awaited months on the part of
the students as well of course those parents who for their first time ever see
their son or daughter be one of those members of the graduating class march
during the processional. I am pretty sure that it’s been already a month-long
waiting and preparation. Needless to say…what to wear and what to do.
Those feelings come into reality on this 5th day of April.

Shereen: At this moment, may I call on MS. COLEEN A. CASTILLO, With High Honors
for her welcome address.

Lewis: And now, the main highlight of today’s affair is about to unfold in our midst.
To do the honors of presenting this year’s candidates for graduation, may we
have on the stage the SBE Director of exemplary performance, none other
than REV. FR. DENNY D. LUCAS, SVD to be followed right away by the
proclamation of the graduates by our very own DWCL President, REV. FR.
NERIO JOSEPH A. ARTIENDA, SVD. Then to come after shall be the
confirmation of the graduates by the well-respected Schools Division
Superintendent of Division of Laoag City, DR. JOEL B. LOPEZ, CESO V.
Shereen: Congratulations once again! Today’s affair is being graced by a special
woman who will deliver her words of wisdom to our young graduates and to
their parents as well. Ladies and gentlemen, let us all welcome our
unbeatable DepEd Secretary, DR. LEONOR M. BRIONES.
Lewis: Thank you so much for that touching message, Ma’am! And now for most
awaited part of our program, especially for the parents and students who will
be awarded, let us move on to the awarding of diplomas. Again, may we call
on DR. JOEL B. LOPEZ, CESO V; REV. FR. NERIO JOSEPH A. ARTIENDA, SVD;
and REV. FR. DENNY D. LUCAS, SVD to do the honor of awarding the
diplomas and be the board of congratulators.
Shereen: Let us now come to the awarding of medals to this year’s Honor Graduates.
May I request on stage REV. FR. NERIO JOSEPH A. ARTIENDA, SVD; BRO.
ALFREDO B. CORTON, SVD; REV. FR. GAUDENCIO G. PUGAT, SVD; REV.
FR. EDWIN D. FERNANDEZ, SVD; and REV. FR. DENNY D. LUCAS, SVD to
award the medals and be the board of congratulators.
Lewis: At this moment, let us hear the words of gratitude from our Batch 2018-2019’s
With Highest Honors, MS. JASMIN BHEL B. LABRADOR.
Shereen: Thank you Jasmin. That was very moving, and once again, congratulations!
Now, to lead the class in their pledge of loyalty, may I call on MR. JANVER B.
PELLOGO, With High Honors.
Lewis: Graduation also marks the graduates’ enlistment to the Divine Word College
of Laoag’s Alumni Association. To officiate the formal induction of Batch 2018-
2019’s inclusion to the Alumni Association, may I call on DR. MACARIO R.
SALVA, DWCL Alumni Association’s Chairman of the board.
Shereen: Without a doubt, you must have been so proud to be working for your Alma
Mater. Thank you Sir Macario!
Lewis: Music is the expression of the soul. It moves emotions and feels with the
movement of time. Through a song that emphasizes the strength amidst
challenges, let us hear the graduates sing their graduation song.
Shereen: The closing hour has finally come. Tomorrow, new challenges and
opportunities await our graduates that will further test their mettle as
improving individuals.
Lewis: As you continue with your journey, may you look back to this stage in your
lives with fondness and pride. Ladies and gentlemen, this concludes the 2018
Commencement Exercises of Divine Word College of Laoag. This has been Sir
Lewis,
Shereen: and Ma’am Shereen. Thank you for coming.
Lewis & She: And together we say, Congratulations Class of 2019 graduates!
LOYALTY AWARDEES

Lewis: I also have the honor to present on-stage this year’s 10 loyalty awardees
(now called as St. Freinademetz Awardees). These students have been with
Divine word College of Laoag for 12 long years.
