Floor beam of an aircraft is subjected the load shown in the Figure 2. The beam is made
Al 2024-T4 aluminum alloy. Assume the cross-beam carries two triple seats. The mass
of each seat with passenger is 120 kg. The triple seat is fixed from two points to the cross
beam. Take the load factor as 2.5 and the factor of safety as 1.5. Verify whether the
cross-section is sufficient to carry load. If it is not, redetermine the dimensions of cross-
section. Is the maximum deflection excessive? Calculate the free vibration modes and
frequencies (natural frequencies) performing a modal analysis.
