Marching Pride of
Riverside
Course Description:
This year long course designed for
members of the Rebel Color Guard.
Emphasis will be on intermediate and advance flag
technique and movement, as well as ensemble rehearsal
skills and performance. This course offers members the
opportunity to perform with a marching band. The daily
guard regimen will include warm-ups and intermediate to
advanced level of choreographed routines of various
styles. Performances include but are not limited to
halftime shows, pep rallies, marching festivals, concerts,
and guard competitions.

These guidelines are used in conjunction with the Rebel
Band Handbook and the Rebel Color Guard Constitution.

Course Requirements
•Participation at summer guard camp
•Participation at pre season camps including new
member camp and regular band camp.
•Participate each day. No exceptions!
• Be on time to class.
• Dress in proper rehearsal attire

Grading Policy
Rebel Color Guard members are assessed in each of the
four periods during the academic year. Assessment is a
confirmation of the participation, level of preparation, and
commitment to the ensemble. Students grades will be an
average of all grades taken in the following areas:
• Attendance, Dress, and Participation in class (20 points
per class)
• Co-curricular (after school) rehearsals - 100 points per
rehearsal based on quality of participation
• Co-curricular Performance Participation - 100 points
per Performance based on quality of performance
• Evaluation of Performances and progress through out
the year

Class Participation
Rebel Color Guard members are expected to show proper
rehearsal etiquette at all times. Members are expected to
work hard at all class rehearsals, after school rehearsals,
demonstrated students will:
• Show respect to the leaders, director, sponsors, and each
other and the facilities and equipment.
• Be dressed and ready to rehearse at a time decided upon

by the captain and director/sponsor.
• Get permission to leave formation/rehearsal.
• Keep up with all props/equipment and uniforms.
• Come prepared to each rehearsal and performance with props, pencil, and uniform and
coordinate charts.
• Participate with a positive attitude, recognize their talents, and share those gifts with
other members of the ensemble, Rebel Band, school, and community.
• Clean up after themselves
• Act respectfully at all times, on and off campus.
• Excessive unexcused absences/tardies from school will lower the student’s grade in this
category
