Middle School
Semester 2
We commenced classes for Semester 2 on Wednesday this week. Most boys will now be following slightly
altered timetables and for many, starting their new electives and languages. The boys that I have spoken to
this week seem to have thoroughly enjoyed their experiences last week and they certainly relished the long
weekend!

Fundraising for Projec10

There was a great buzz in the PAC on Thursday morning when we hosted students from Fintona, Camberwell
Girls’ and PLC for our joint fundraising project. After an initial briefing, the students got to meet with their
teams and planned their various fundraising ventures. There were many excellent ideas generated and it
will be great to see the teams put their plans into action over the next few weeks. All money will need to be
handed in by Friday 5 August 2016, and the total of our combined efforts will be announced then. The teams
that work the best together will be awarded prizes at the Year 8 Social in Term 4, when students from the
four schools come together again.

Middle School Church Service

Parents, family members and friends are welcome to attend our service at St Mark’s next Wednesday 22
June 2016. The service will commence at 9.30am and will conclude by 10.20am. This end of term tradition
always presents a wonderful opportunity for us to come together, step out of our usual morning routine and
celebrate the end of another busy and successful term.

End of Term
It genuinely feels like yesterday that I was welcoming everyone back for Term 2. The weeks have gone
very quickly, which is most likely an indication of how busy the term has been. We are definitely part of an
energised, vibrant and dynamic community and I commend the boys for the manner with which they have
approached school life throughout the term. End of semester tests and projects, Winter Sport, Year 6 Round
Robins, the Mid-Year Concert, Middle School Play rehearsals, Projec10 fundraising teams, Friday activities

Page 2
and for some Year 8 boys Outdoor Education are but some of the activities and challenges we have enjoyed
Contents throughout Term 2.
Headmaster Next week we run classes as normal as we aim to finish strongly. There is no sports training next week but
this will resume when we return for Term 2, as there are two rounds left in the Winter season. On Friday
Semester 2
periods 1 to 7 run as normal and then we will hold an end-of-term Assembly from 2.45pm to 3.15pm. The
Parent Education Seminar boys will be dismissed straight from Assembly to commence what I hope will be a brilliant holiday for all.

Who is teaching young people about sex
& relationships in the digital era?

For many young people today, sexual exploration and experimentation begins in the online space. The
net is fantastic for many things but when it comes to information about sexuality the net is dominated by

people might experience in digital spaces.

CGS Hockey – Polar Fleece Jackets
Friends of Hockey are pleased to announce that new stock has arrived. All sizes are now available
(Small, Medium, Large, Extra-Large) at last year’s price of $40.00.

The Polar Fleece is the heaviest fabric we have been able to source (350gsm), it will provide a lot of
warmth and it should also offer a degree of wind protection. They will be available for $40.00 each
which is below cost as Friends of Hockey are paying for the embroidery and the set-up.
The sizing is shown in the table below however from the samples we have received so far the size is
not overly generous. The chest measurement is directly under the arms and is the exact size of the
jacket it is therefore worth taking into account that the boys will be wearing tops underneath. The
length is from the top of the collar to the bottom of the jacket.
The Polar Fleeces are available for purchase at the Development Office – please try on to ensure
correct fit. Payment can be made by cash or via Trybooking: https://www.trybooking.com/LNLE
