Oral Exam Instructions
- While other students speak, you sit at the back of the class to
prepare your presentation individually (10 minutes.)
- NO MATERIAL IS ALLOWED DURING PREPARATION TIME.
- Read your cards carefully and start organising your ideas! You can
keep it during the exam. You don’t need to talk about all the items on
the card and you can include any others. These are only ideas for you
to organise your talk.
- You can make written notes during the preparation time and use
them during the exam, but keep them to a minimum: use bullet
points or key words.
ORAL EXAM:
Accuracy
Are you using a wide range of grammatical structures? Are you using these
structures correctly?
Pronunciation
You don’t need to have a perfect English accent, but you need to be clear at
all times. Pay special attention to the sounds learned/ practiced in class.
Range
Are you using a wide range of vocabulary? Is the vocabulary appropriate for
the subject you’re talking about? Are you using this vocabulary correctly?
Organization
Are you able to speak fluently? Is what you’re saying relevant to the subject
of the discussion? Is what you’re saying clear and well organised? Are you
connecting your ideas and organising what you are saying?
Task completion
Did you try to reach an agreement? Did you justify your options and tried to
counter-argue the ones you listened to?
