Analysis

1. The table shows that the teachers follow processes in screening of potentially gifted children.
2. All of our respondents consider that those children showing higher order thinking skill is a quality of a gifted
learner.
3. 25 out of 30 respondents agreed that showing unusual leadership skill is a quality of a gifted learner and 3 out of
30 said “Maybe” and 1 out of 30 said “No”.
4. All of the respondents agreed that they are utilizing SAGES as the assessment tool in screening of potentially
gifted learner.
5. 29 out of 30 teachers affirmed that they are using pre-screening tests
6. Out of the 30 teachers half of them asserted that SAGES is reliable 3 of them disagreed and 12 said “maybe”
7. In considering their students 12 of the teachers said “yes” 2 of them said “maybe” and 16 said “no”.
8. 21 teachers says that they do not consider parents ask for consideration in favour of their child’s written
performance and 3 says maybe and 3 says yes but in case to case basis.
9. All of the teachers say that being a GT teacher is challenging.
10. 21 teachers say that they did not encountered problems during screening process this year 1 say no and 8 say
yes.
11. There are 26 teachers say that they encounter problems with their learners, 2 says maybe and 2 says no.
12. According to the table there are 28 teachers that there were reactions from the parents if their child did not
pass the exam. 1 say no and 1 say yes.
13. There are 20 teachers answered no, 8 answered maybe and 2 maybe that parents try to influence them in
exchange of personal interest.
14. There are 25 teachers said, that the parent does not have any participation in screening process, 4 say yes and 1
says maybe.

Summary of Findings

The researchers found out that SAGES is the assessment tool that teachers are currently using in screening of
potentially gifted children. Half of the respondents said that SAGES is reliable in screening. In the other hand there were
12 respondents who said (maybe) and 3 of the respondents said no .However there are inconsistencies on the answers
of the teachers regarding their consideration if all of their students are gifted. Almost half of them indicated that they do
not consider their learners as gifted. Based on the findings majority of the respondents said that there are no
participation of the parents in the screening process.
