Here are a list of games and activities they I have collected.

Almost all of these can be used

without the internet or computer. These also need very little prep time and can be modified to
use the teacher’s vocabulary or the chapters topic. Some really great resources are the
Auxiliary pages on Facebook! This can answer so many questions and they have games you can
use and even power points already made. I also used you tube a lot! They have ESL games and
i took most of my games from there. Pintrest was helpful. I also used Google images to print
coloring pictures and worksheets. Just type EX: bingo Pintable’s in images or sea animal’s
pintable’s. Copy and paste the image into word. All of these games can be modified and I often
changed the rules to fit the class or the level of English. You can feel the class and if it’s too
hard or they don’t understand tweak the game a bit so it works for them.

Games:
1) (Zombie) Mafia -best with higher level
look up instructions on youtube

2) Crime scene investigator

Bring a small box (or bags) with 5 objects or clues inside. Students must work in groups to
construct a crime story and write it and tell the class.

3) Dangerous Definitions
Make a list of obscure weird words. Each team gets scraps of paper and you write the word on
the bored. Each team has to write a definition and read them out loud to the class. While you
read the definitions somewhere slip in the correct definition. Teams must decide which
definition they think is correct. The correct team gets 2 points.

4) Leap Frog with vocabulary P1+2

5) Duck Duck goose P1+2
6) Simon says P1+2

7) Alphabet game
Put two sets of the alphabet on the board and have two teams fill in all the letters with words.
You can have them write any words in English for one point. Vocabulary words or words from
their chapter get 2 points.

8) Debates
Have two topics on the board ex: cats vrs dogs. Have the class choose a side and they then
have to explain why their choice is the better choice. I’m going to have a talking stick to
hopefully keep them a little quiet.

9) What’s in my bag
Have objects in a bag, these can be real objects or papers printed with words or printed
pictures. Have a student come to the front and pull an object from the bag carful to not show
the class. The student then has to describe the object to the class. The class has to guess object
from the description.

10) Variation of What’s in my bag

Have a student come and sit in a chair facing the class. Behind them write a vocabulary word
on the bored. The students raise their hands and describe the word to the person sitting in the
chair and they have to guess what it is.
11) Peat the Cat I love my white shoes P1+2

(also were going on a bear hunt

This is a book. You can buy the book or you can show it to your class on YouTube. YouTube has
a video of someone reading it. Young kids love this one. You can come up with different
activities surrounding this like print color pages of shoes and have them color and label them.
Ask whoever is wearing white shoes stand up.....

12) Yes, no, stand up

Tell your students to stand up for yes and sit down for no . Ask them questions.

13) Stand in line

Have a group of students get into a line. Each group must line up in a certain order. you could
choose age, first letter of name, Date of Birth.

13) Relay Race P1+2

Split class in teams or rows. They have to go through the whole team to win. EX: "I like
hamburgers” each person says it. Then switch it up ask different questions.

14) Run to the Bored

Two teams of students line up at the board. When you say go both teams first person in line
runs to the board and has to write a word from the chapter or vocabulary. They all take turns
and the team with the most words at the end of the time wins. They can get a little crazy
excited with this game.

15) Basketball Vocab

Have the class split into two groups. Call one person from each group to answer one question,
if they answer the question correctly they get one point and get to shoot for a basket. If they
make the basket they get an additional point. if they get the question wrong they get zero
points. don’t forget to tell the correct answer to the class. (Kids and teacher loved this game)

16) Tic, Tac, Toe

17) Sit Down and Shut Up

Split the class into teams. Have everyone stand up. Ask questions and for a person who
answers correctly they sit down. The object of the game is to have everyone in your team
sitting down first.

18) School bus

This is one of the funniest games I have played with them. Have students stand in a line or sit
in a circle. Choose a category EX: colors, animals, types of jobs, things you find in a kitchen,
clothing, country’s....... You go through the line and if someone messes up or can’t answer they
are out. They love this game.

19) 2 Truths and a Lie

Say three things, one is going to be a lie. The class has to guess the lie.
20) Bomb
Students pass around a ball or (bomb) while there is a timer. They have to say vocabulary
words and if the timer goes off and you are holding the ball you are out.

21) Silly Questions game

Kids write a noun on a small piece of paper and roll it up and put it in the bag. Ask the kids a
question like EX: "what did you have for breakfast?" and the kid pulls out a slip of paper from
the bad and read what is written on it. EX¨:"what’s in your mouth?" "What is your father’s
name?" "What is in your hand?"

22) Battleship Bingo

This is a worksheet that the kids play battleship with each other. they have to draw on their
ships and then ask each other...."do you like..." and ask what square they want. The person
responds with "yes i like..." if their ship is on that square. If there is no ship on that square they
say "no i don’t like..." I had to go around and make sure they were speaking in complete
sentences! It helps if you make them write on their paper do you like and no i don’t like.

23 Fly Swatter
Kids Like This Game a Lot; you can use a projector computer for this or write the words on the
board. Write words all over the board. These can be random words or vocabulary words or
words from their chapter. Have two kids come up and have rolled up pieces of paper (fly
swatters) you describe the word and the first kid to swat the fly (word) wins!

Warm ups
