Risk Management skills and Time Management skills

Risk management is one of the skill I have learnt in this project. As a treasurer, I have to make
sure our profit is always positive and able to cover back our expenditure. We need to calculate
the budget for this project so that we can sell our products in a reasonable price, at the same
time earning great profit. Before the event start, Hon Cheng Yi, my department mate and I
gathered all the surveyed price of the materials that we wanted to sell from group mates and
did a budget list. During the event, as our group was doing RM1 Coffee promotion, we ensured
that we still can get RM250 profit within the given time. The RM1 Coffee promotion wasn't
always there throughout the event as we have calculated that we will not be able to earn RM250
profit before the event ended. So, we have suggested to the group that the promotion will be
given a time limit in different period. Besides that, we also kept ourselves up-to-date on the
money that we've earned so that we can inform the group to reduce the promotions if there's
any issue in the money causing us lesser money earned. Furthermore, time management skills
are also one of the skills I have learnt. Time management skills can be demonstrated by
managing and making effective use of your time. This will usually include prioritising your
tasks and understanding your responsibility. It's is important to be aware of upcoming deadlines
and meetings and to be prepared for them. As the event was occurred during my school days
from morning to evening, I will need to rearrange my studies time so that I will have time to
help my group mates taking care the booth. Moreover, although there're many assignments and
classes, I will still be able to manage my time well to attend meetings as well as prepare
materials for the meetings.

Skills to Apply in Future Career

All the skills that I have learnt from this fund-raising project are so useful in my future career.
I might be a project manager of a company. At that time being, me as a project manage, plays
an important role to ensure the project is done within the deadline and the budget as well. Here
is where risk management comes into the place. A project manager without good risk
management skills will cause the project delayed as well as overbudget. As a project manager,
I will also need to have good time management so that the project that I manage can be done
within the given time. I will be able to assign my teammates a work that has a reasonable
deadline. During the fund-raising event, I have to calculate the budget of the project before the
event start so that the project will not be over budgeted. From there, we are able to solve any
problem since the budget list is done before the event. This experience benefits me indeed for
my future career.
