Main Idea

This lab cannot be performed in Remote class. Therefore, if you are in Remote class then watch the
demonstration movie for this lab

In in-centre class, you installed TPN Backup and Restore as part of the ‘Install and Configure EPKS
Server’ lab. Therefore, it is not necessary to perform this portion of the lab.

 Step Action

ATTENTION

Perform this procedure only if the node you are


configuring is connected to the LCN (EST or ESVT).
For non LCN connected nodes (ESC, ESF, ESV), skip
all steps in this procedure – go directly to the next
procedure in this lab (it will start with step 1).

2 At the Server, logon with Domain Administrative Privileges

3 Insert the Experion Installation DVD.

4 In the Honeywell - Experion PKS Installer – R430 dialog, click Install/Migrate Experion
PKS
On User Account Control Dialog box click Allow/Yes

5 Click Next in Honeywell Software Installation – Welcome dialog.

6 In License Agreement dialog box accept the license agreement and click Next

7 Select Optional Features and click Next

8 In User and License Information dialog box enter the following information
Name:
Company:
Click Yes on Are there Licensed TPS Components to Install
Enter following details under TPS Components License
License No.:
Authorization No.:

 Step Action

9 From Optional Features select File Transfer. Click Next

10 Enter and Confirm password for Local Com Server. Click Next

11 Click Install to start the installation.

12 After installation, in the Experion PKS 430 – Status Display, click Yes to reboot

 Step Action

Verify HM Node Number Configuration Information for File Transfer

ATTENTION

Perform this procedure only if the node you are


configuring is connected to the LCN (EST or ESVT).
For non LCN connected nodes (ESC, ESF, ESV), skip
all steps in this procedure – go directly to the next
procedure in this lab (it will start with step 1).

2 At the server, open the Configuration Utility:


Start  All Programs  Honeywell Experion PKS  System Management 
Configuration Utility.

3 In the menu select Configure  File Transfer.

4 In the File Transfer dialog, select the HM Nodes tab.

5 Configure the HM Node Numbers as follows:


HM Node 1: 16

TIP

In class, the HM is address 16.


The node address of the HM node can be determined
from the System Status display in Native Window.
HM node address can also be determined from the
LED indicators on the HM module.

6 Click OK.

 Step Action

TIP

When logging on to Windows after restarting, some message


dialog boxes may pop-up. If they do, click Close in these
message boxes.
If no changes were made, there is no need to restart the PC.

Restart the machine.

2 Verify that the HM Volumes Available list has been populated with names of HM
volumes. If not, click the Refresh HM Volumes button.

Do not check the Restore Log Enabled option since a

Sub-Section Creating a new backup configuration

TIP

Step 2 Enter the Configuration ID: USRVolumes.


Step 3 Select USR1 and USR2 volumes.
Step 5 Leave the Checkpoint Data Owners Before Backup
option unchecked.
Step 6 Select Log File Mode as Volume.
Step 7 Ensure that the Calculate Checksum option is
selected.
Step 8 Do not select the Save as .LCN File option.
There is a separate lab exercise on creating .LCN files
from backup files.
Steps Because we did not elect to create a .LCN file, skip
9-10 steps 9 and 10.

Step 11 Perform step 11.

 Step Action

5 Monitor the Backup Status. (The “Operation Description” should change periodically.)

TIP

Depending on what types of files have been copied to the user


volumes on the HM, you may get errors indicating that some
files have not been configured for file transfer (in class, that’s
OK). If the errors occur, the ‘B’ in the taskbar tray will turn red.
When the operation is complete, the Backup Status dialog box
will close and the ‘B’ will disappear from the taskbar tray.
The backup you are performing in class will take about 5
minutes to complete.

Step 5 Enter the filename as USRVolumes.LCN.
Since we are not specifying a path, the .LCN file is
created in C:\ProgramData\Honeywell\TPNBU, which
is the default path.
