BATTERY FOR C-SBUxx BATTERY BACKUP UNIT

Background There currently is only one battery available that has been tested and
recommended for the BBU (Battery Backup Unit). Any battery used
with the BBU should be designed for Standby use.

In 1987 Honeywell started to carry a battery with side terminals for the
BBU under the number 30734146-007, but later in 1991 discontinued
carrying any batteries for the BBU when this side terminal battery was
discontinued. Batteries should be obtained from the appropriate
battery vendor.

Action The approved battery is model Data Safe 12HX300 from EnerSys.
They have world wide distribution and can be reached on the web at
http://www.enersys.com/ .

Specifications The Standby battery has the following specifications per the vendor.

• Ten year design life

• Does not require special venting as vents are sealed
• Valve Regulated Lead Acid battery (VRLA)
• Never needs watering, minimal maintenance
• Terminals are M6 threaded receptacles with M6 screws
• No transport restrictions
• 100% recyclable materials
• AH rating of 70
• Size 10.2" x 6.9" x 8.2"
• Weight = 60 lbs.

Battery Be aware that the terminals on the 12HX300 battery are M6 threaded
Connections receptacles. The battery is supplied with M6 screws to attach the cables.

The following table lists the cables used to connect the batteries that have
the standard top posts.
