“Psychologists can read people’s mind”

What does like what to be a Psychologist? That is the question popped out from

my mind when I read an article from the internet about different college courses. In

searching for the best course for me, I asked some people about what job will it be in for

taking particular courses, off course I chose education because teaching is my passion.

But during my inquiry about different courses, many people always tell that psychology

is all about “reading minds”, “counseling”, and some says curing “Insanity”, (they maybe

pertaining to Psychiatry). The rumor about the ability of the psychologists to read minds

became my topic of interest. Some says Psychologist use a telekinesis like skill, some say

they predicts people’s mind and some say it just a coincidence. But do they really read

people’s mind? Do they have a special power to know what we are feeling inside and

what we are thinking of? It is hard for me to believe that, because I believe that it is only

God who can comprehend what we are thinking. All of these questions were partially

answered when I knew our youth Pastor Revelation. He is a Psychology graduate and he

practice his skill of counseling in our church. Sometimes we were surprised because it

seems he knew what we are going through and what our struggles are. He tend to “read

our mind”. Out of curiosity I asked him how did he do it, he explain that people have a

body languages that tells what is on their mind. Facial expression, weird behavior, hand

gestures can tell what a person is thinking of. He explained that it is not 100% accurate

prediction but probably a close one. It became clear to me that they don’t really read

minds, they read our behavior and behavior is from our mind.
