Abstract

The main back bone idea of the project is to create a Equipment for Farmers which helps them
to Sow Seeds and Spray Pesticide without any Human Interference. In the Agricultural Sector
one of the main point of concern is the excess spraying of Pesticide in the fields which leads to
several implications to Water bodies and Causes Pollution.
The Vigorous process of Sowing Seeds in the fields is made easier by the Robot. We intend to
introduce Fly Wheel Based Seed Sowing System and Height Adjustable Pesticide Spraying
System. The system is controlled by a State Of Art Arduino Control System.
The User is given access to all the Capabilities of the Robot through an advanced Arduino
connected via Bluetooth to an Android Application. Seed Sowing system is provided with a
tank to store the seeds. The system used in Achieving the Seed sower system is Very Simple
and easily comprehendible to Layman.

Introduction

Our Project Deals with the problems faced by the Farmers and the agricultural sector, we aim to

introduce a Android Controlled Robot which can sow seeds, spray the pesticides in an efficient

and easy manner.

Agriculture makes up about 50% of the Indian work force and contributed 17-18% of India’s GDP.

However due to the recent global climate change which in turn has caused severe problems to

agricultural industry like soil erosion, deforestation and water shortage, this has severely affected the

Indian agricultural industry. Poorly maintained agricultural systems and almost lack of good extension

services are also a few problematic factors. Also factoring in the high labor costs, the agricultural sector

in India is in a very dilapidated state.

We aim to change this by the introduction of the Multipurpose Agricultural Robot , this robot has a very

robust construction which will have multiple mechanisms in order to ensure proper spraying of

pesticides ,sowing of seeds and removal of garden weed , this will also reduce the need for labor thus

reducing efforts and costs of the farmers.

5
Objectives

 To design and fabricate an agricultural robot with seed sowing and pesticide spraying
facility.
 Performance Study of the Design for Various Parameters.

6
Methodology
 The methodology implemented in the robot are:-
 Seed sower system: - The robot consists of a seed sower system which will use a wheel
powered by the chain driven by main drive and will help to sow the seeds in the upper
crest of soil.
 Sprinkler system: - The robot consists of a pump that pumps the pesticides through the
sprayers attached to the body of robot.
 Arduino Control System: - The robot is equipped with the State Of The Art Arduino
Control System that is controlled by an android application and powers terrain wheels to
take on tough terrain.

Design considerations

Length of sprayer: The rectangular rod with the adjustable sprinklers is of length 750mm. This
is done in order to ensure optimal spraying of pesticides, considering the height of most of the
crops grown in India.
Wheels: Diameter is the wheels is 150mm and the tires used are off-road terrain this enables the
robot to traverse across the fields without obstructions and the size of the wheel ensures
required ground clearance in order to tackle the terrain in fields.
Length of Robot: Length is designed to ensure optimal usage of space on the Robot so that it
can fit all the required parts on the platform. The length is 600mm.
Width of Robot: Width of the Robot is designed keeping in mind the minimum space between
the two crop rows according to India farming practices. The width of Robot is 320mm.
Pesticide Container: The Container is positioned right in front of the sprayer rods and its
capacity is 1.5L.
Seed Container: The seed container is 250mm wide in order to accumulate the wheel which
passes the seed through the funnel of 20mm.
DC Motors: The DC Motor used is 4 x 300 RPM, the four motors help in powering each wheel
thus making Off-Road easier.

9
Outcomes

• To Program Arduino Controller of the Robot in order to ensure maximum Performance

of the Robot for the given application.
• To design and fabricate an agricultural robot with seed sowing and pesticide spraying
facility.
