CURRICULAM MODELS ,TYPES AND FRAMEWORK

INTRODUCTION

Curriculum may be considered as the blue print of the educational programme. It is the
base of education on which the teaching learning process is planned and implemented.

It nearly resembles a ‘cake’ in which carefully selected experiences are blended together
little by little, stirred by the hand of an expert teacher and slowly baked in an oven of
experiences, allowing an each ingredient to complement and permeate the others. The quality of
final product depends not only on the quality of ingredients and the sequence in which they are
combined, but equally in the blending process itself and the ‘setting’ of the oven.

The term curriculum was 1st used in Scotland as early as 1820 & became a part of the
education vernacular in the United States
