POSTMODERN (PHILIPPINES)
• Postmodernism in the Philippines began when Modernism started to lose its popular
appeal by the 1980’s.
• Postmodernism is simplified by carries application of color, return to ornament, and
traditional design elements and eclectic mix and match of every conceivable detail for a
flashy effect.
• Emphasizing vertical elements when it comes to high rise buildings which is divided into
vertical segments:
I. Podium
II. Shaft
III. Crown
The structures of Postmodernism architecture in the Philippines are mainly commercial
buildings, malls, and condominiums. Postmodernism reinvents the cityscapes with the potential
illusion and perpetuate scapes fantasy environment as to master plan microcity like:
 Fort Bonifacio Global City
 Eastwood City
 Rockwell Center
 Bonifacio Global City
Bonifacio Global City (also known as BGC, Global City, or The Fort) is a financial and
lifestyle district in Metro Manila, Philippines. It is located 11 km (6.8 mi) south-east of
the center of Manila. The district experienced commercial growth following the sale of

district used to be the part of the main Philippine Army camp.
THE PICTURE IS THE SKYLINE OF BGC, THE BONIFACIO HIGH STREET
 Fort Bonifacio Global City
-is a well urbanized rising city of Metro Manila. A beautiful and well-planned city.
As The city is filled with condominiums, malls and commercial buildings. And they all fit
accordingly. Everything is in context with each other. The buildings are differently designed but
blended beautifully with all other buildings. The city is clean and well organized.
And in a few years now, I can say that it can be compared to Singapore or Hong Kong’s
successful cities.
