TITLE OF THE PROJECT= MIXED-USE

SKY-SCRAPPER
(RESIDENTIAL+COMMERCIAL WITH
VERTICAL FARMING )
PROJECT INTRODUCTION
Two discoveries in the middle of the 19th century made it
possible to build modern skyscrapers ,before the industrial
revolution ,brick & stone walls carried the weight of buildings
,because each floor was very heavy moreover it was
impossible to build very high houses .In the middle of 19th
century steel became important building material as it was
strong and light . Architects now can construct a steel
skeleton to support tall structures eventually skyscrapers.
Skyscrapers would have been useless if people had to walk up
and down with dozens of flights of stairs ,indeed in 1853 an
elevator safe enough to carry passengers was invented by
ELISHA GRAVES OTIS.
During the early 20th century , the construction of tall
buildings became very popular in metropolitans & in
megacities as cities grew bigger due to population
skyrocketing everyday as more people could live and work
there .
Tall buildings were also seen as symbol of power and
greatness .Thus major cities in the world fought for the tallest
building title , as USA had title for 4 decades due to EMPIRE
STATE BUILDING in NYC with 381mt high .
Today the world’s tallest building is BURJ KHALIFA in
Dubai at the height of 828 mts but the Jeddah tower in
SAUDI ARABIA is expected to complete in 20122 & it will be
1000mts high .
In Indian context ,today ,alone in MUMBAI ,there are more
than 7000 Highrise structures .as the race for the world’s
tallest building continues most experts have different
opinions on how tall skyscrapers can become as many say
building a 1000 mts high structure would be no problem with
present technology on the other side we would need lighter
,stronger materials as well as faster elevators to make this
possible .
MIXED USE DEVELOPMENT
Mixed use development is a type of urban development that
blends residential ,commercial ,cultural ,institutional or
entertainment used where those functions are physically and
functionally integrated and that provides pedestrian
connections . mixed use development can take the form of
single building , a city block ,or entire neighborhoods.
Human settlements have developed in mixed use pattern
,however with industrialization as well as the invention of the
skyscraper , governmental zoning regulations were
introduced to separate different functions ,such as
manufacturing from residential areas .
FEATURES OF VERTICAL MUD
1.It combines different functions in the same building .
2.Provides more public space on lower floors such as retail
shops ,restaurants , commercial shops ,etc.
3.Encourage economic investment .
4.Increase revenues .
5.Reduces auto dependency , roadway congestion , air
pollution and also reduce carbon footprint .
BENEFITS OF MUD
1.Economic -mixed use development that promotes a
walkable built environment can help revitalize a downtown
increase private investment ,lead to higher property values
,promote tourism and support the development of a good
business climate .
2.lower Infrastructure costs – more compact development i.e.
various types of facilities & services available at one stop
reduces the infrastructure cost.
3.Environmental -reducing sprawl & building communities
where residents live & walk to work , reduces car usage ,
positively impacting the environment with the incorporation
of mixed use development patterns could be reduced and
quality of life may be enhanced . Undeveloped land ,open
space,& historic & natural resources could be preserved .

ENERGY EFFICIENT HIGH-RISE CONSTRUCTION

High-rise construction , as the most progressive direction of
the construction , is particularly focused on the use of
innovative technologies . For architects , designers and
engineers of high-rise buildings are the ideal experimental
platform for testing different decisions of the construction of
the tallest ,the most stable ,the cheapest ,the lightest ,the
most efficient or greenest skyscrapers.
Energy efficient buildings owe their birth to first global
energy crisis in 1973 ,humanity first began to think about the
depletion of energy resources of the planet & energy
conservation .at this stage ,it was seeking ways to reduce
energy consumption for heating of buildings. The first
experimental building for testing and identifying the best
technical solutions for energy saving was built in Manchester
(USA).
The Energy consumption of the building was reduced by the
efficient use of solar radiation ,double -layer fencing
structures & computer control of engineering equipment of
buildings ,the implementation of this project marked the
beginning of the construction of energy-efficient buildings
around the world .
AIM OF THE PROJECT
The aim of this project is to develop the commercial land into
a symbolic mixed-use skyscraper & also help in shaping the
future skyline of the city by being an inspiration for buildings
to come.
OBJECTIVES
1.To amplify the contribution of architecture to mixed-use
development .
2.To integrate structure and services with the architectural
form.
3. To comprehend the various issues involved in the planning
& design of the center leading to a lively building that would
promote interaction & exposure to many activities in an
interesting environment .
4. To study postmodern built forms ,structure ,services &
spaces used in skyscraper building worldwide.
5.To design spaces which bring closer to nature and harmony
.
6.To bring transparency ,openness and fluidity of space .
7.Priority to sustainable material & functional requirements
in design ,while integrating services to it.
8.To fallow the guidelines of the LEED accordingly to achieve
FAR regulations.

LIMITATIONS
1 .Work is limited to the core urban development projects and
does not take into consideration of Low-income group in the
campus ,although the employment of these people is
generated in the project .
2 .The project does not cover the financial aspects of the high-
rise MUD and the detailed estimation and costing part.
3 .The interior designing of the offices ,residential flats and
retail is not covered in the project.

SYNOPSIS -2
TITLE OF THE PROJECT
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY PARK

BROAD TYPOLOGY OF THESIS

The idea to design an IT park came up with the image of the
city and also how the city serves and to make a space for the
people coming to their offices should not only describe the
work that they do but also relief the whole stream of work into
something which would not drive them to come to that space.
PHILOSOPHY OF DESIGN & THEORITICAL BACKGROUND
The design philosophy is to make a Function over Form ,it is
much important to apply this philosophy in an office building
because function determine the space ,form also plays a major
role in sense of iconic structure and design consideration.
AIM
• To design an Information technology park in Bangalore
for maximizing human presence in the life of technology
by giving ethnicity to human moment with flexible spaces
& dynamism on the site .
JUSTIFICATION
The development of IT sector in Bangalore is high in
WORLD and always a booming sector as Bangalore is a IT
hub & silicon valley of India and considered as hotspot
to set up the IT park.

OBJECTIVES
➢ To understand the need of office spaces with reference
to the sustainable lifestyle .
➢ To provide an environment with ample open and
recreational spaces in & around the project.
➢ To integrate the public and the members of the park to
ensure and take care of surrounding ecosystem.

SCOPE OF PROJECT
The city is IT hub hence setting up a IT park in Bangalore will
be highly successful and will boost the economy of the city and
provide employment for thousands of employees.
LIMITATIONS
> .The project does not cover the financial aspects and
the detailed estimation and costing part.
> .The interior designing of the offices ,residential flats
and retail is not covered in the project.

METHODOLOGY
Keeping in mind the limitations and difficulties of the
major design challenges would likely to be discovering
& collecting info about the different types related
projects & problems pertaining to the spaces which
would more likely conclude the design challenge as
well as the problems that really needs at most
attention .

TITLE OF THE PROJECT
SELF-SUSTAINABLE FLOATING CITIES
(MODULAR UNITS).

PROJECT INTRODUCTION
By 2050 ,90% of the major cities in the world are going to be
dealing with rising sea levels.
Today ,3 million people are already permanently living on the
sea ,so I thought could we actually imagine all of the
sustainable development goals of UN into a whole human
made eco-system & of course the design should be in such a
way that the city produce its own power, harvesting the
thermal mass of the oceans ,the force of tides of currents of
the waves ,the power of the wind & energy of the sun also
collecting all the rainwater on the archipelago & deal with it
Organically & mechanically by storing and cleaning it.
