TOPIC : IT BUILDING
PROJECT TYPE : LIVE PROJECT
PROJECT LOCATION : PATTABIRAM,CHENNAI
PROJET AREA : 45 ACRES
PROJECT NAME :TIDEL (hanging gardern)

AIM
The design aims at creating a workspace, which increases the working efficiency of the employees by
giving authenticity to the human movement with interesting spaces, and dynamism on the site

OBJECTIVES
• To design an effective campus considering the standards that need to be employed for an IT Park and
it ensure sustainability in all the aspects of designs.
. • To design a space which brings the people closer to nature thus making a creative workforce.
• To achieve a sense of community is achieved through the social nature of the work environment and
the various green activity spaces blended with the design.
• To creation of a vibrant campus through an integrated, creative, work-life community within a
sustainable environment built on the principles of sustainability, innovation and security
. • To design workspaces that helps in enhancing the productivity of the employees by providing green
areas near their working space, which can relax them mentally from stress

MOTIVATION
 The main reason to design an IT Park came up with the image of the city and how the city
serves and caters most of the IT giants in the industry. This research led to the decision of
keeping this as the Thesis project. There are end number of people working in IT companies,
which comprises of a lot of floating as well as permanent population of the city. There are
already quite a lot of technological parks that area existing in Chennai but the idea to design it
was to create something fluidic and interesting rather than it being a monotonous scraped
building
 The design aims at increasing the productivity rate of the employees by creating a vibrant
campus thereby achieving a sense of community through the social working environment,
which is sustainable & energy efficient
 Basically, this entire IT field has not only become the economic and financial part of the city but
or the work culture of a mega city but also it is somehow describing the vivid culture of the city
as well, as people in the city welcomes the population migrating to work here and somehow
makes this whole thing parallel and this is already in the process of becoming a very important
part of the people who are directly or indirectly getting affected by this work culture. This whole

idea of the people coming here and the problem pertaining because of these are also not less.
The stress, travel, traffic, monotony etc. drives people to hate what they are doing sometimes.
 To make a space for the people coming to their offices should not only describe the work that
they do but also relief the whole stream of work into something which would not drive them to
come to that space

Design Approach –
Design development started with the formulation of contextual design methodology and
strategy to be adopted to achieve an optimized design program in consideration with the
following parameters:
• Understanding the Site Potentials/constraints
• Rich and Engaging Landscape Design
• Emergency Evacuation
• Sustainable design approaches
• Creating Social and Recreational Amenities
• Phasing and Massing
• Flood Resilience Strategy
• To follow the criterions laid by down by IGBC
Based on these factors the design program has been formulated. The design aims at creating
high performance workspaces, which radiate positive energy. A vibrant campus to display and
create everlasting memories. A design that brings the people closer to nature thus making a
creative workforce.

SCOPE OF WORK AND LIMITATIONS

• To provide a sustainable & energy efficient design

• The Design scope includes the interior design of the non-tenanted common areas like main entrance
foyers, lift lobbies, passenger and shuttle lifts including interiors of lift cars, common toilets etc.

• To qualify the project for Tidel through the design and infrastructures provided in the building.

• The design should incorporate the efficient master plan possible after considering climatic
considerations of that place.

• The design of the IT Park is limited to the norms mentioned in the RFP Document of this project. The
aim here is to create an IT Park, which would consist of two major built structures, which houses the
Office Buildings, which is designed according the principles of IGBC of India

Chennai as a destination for IT

The South Indian city of Chennai is fast emerging as a destination for information technology
outsourcing and has seen a growing number of IT Parks being built here. IT firms in Chennai employ
about 40% of India’s pool of 2.5 million IT professionals and account for the highest IT-related exports in
the country. In such a case, these tech parks, which are home to most of the Chennai offices of IT giants,
play a major role in housing the employees

 Suitable climate, progressive local community and the presence of many educational institutes, which
have attracted many multinational IT companies to Chennai.

 Being an educational hub, and being a metropolitan city also adds to its advantage.

 Since it is having all kinds of transportation facilities, it might one of the main means of easy modes of
transport and communication.

 It provides all basic amenities, which attracts people to live in this city without any discrepancies.

 Since it is a safest metro city and provides accommodation at a reasonable rate, it serves to be a good
reason for people to stay in this city for a longer period.

people in that zone would opt to work there. It will also help in easing traffic
distribution and congestion and, in turn, enhance the productivity and profitability of
IT companies.

CONCLUSION
 The whole essence of the thesis is based on the experience that the built environment invokes while
laying out the criteria for design.

 The main aim is to rethink the design of an IT Park, which is easily adaptable to the current scenario
without creating any discrepancies to the surrounding environment.

 In order, to conclude, I thereby state that the design output, which is produced from the various levels
of research and studies, is carried out mainly to explore the design principles of sustainable architecture
or green architecture.

 The design output produced from this thesis project mainly intends to develop a relationship between
the Natural Environment and the Human Being, which was found to be missing in the field of IT Park.
