1. INTRODUCTION:

• Aligarh is a city in the Northern Indian state of Uttar

Pradesh that is famous for lock industries and the
administrative headquarters of the Aligarh district. It lies
307 km northwest of Kanpur and is approximately 145
km southeast of the capital, New Delhi. Notable as the
seat of Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh is one of the
largest cities in Uttar Pradesh, and is the 55th largest city
in India.
• Aligarh became a metro city with 12.40 lakh population
as per 2017 Census.
• Government has proposed Development of Transport Aligarh City has two UPSRTC Bus stations:
Nagar at Kher Road, Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh.
• Aligarh Depot Bus station.
ALIGARH DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY is the nodal
agency for the project. • Masoodabad (Budh Vihar) Depot Bus

2.a. DEMAND
• Based on the primary surveys, around 500 Bus parking
bays are required to cater to the next 30 years projected
traffic demand. It is prudent to implement the project in
two phases for optimal capital investment. Also the
parking demand will rise gradually over the years.
Hence 500 bays to be planned.

• The project will provide modern and functionally efficient

Bus terminal for the city, beneficial to the passengers,
transport operators, to reduce city traffic , private
booking agents and public facilities. It shall be planned
to provide adequate facilities for oil Storage, Drop in /
Drop off zones for of Passengers, Goods, Vehicle
shops, night parking , other amenities and services
required for the transport operators. The project is
located around 50 km from the Yamuna expressway,
therefore, site is suitably approachable to various linked
cities.

• The Road users have to bear with traffic problems

caused by the plying of goods carriers due to non-
availability of adequate or integrated truck terminal
facility in the Aligarh region and also there is
requirement for additional facilities such as Warehouses
/ Godown with storage facilities to reduce the wastage
of goods. The proposed facility will not only decongest
the traffic but also improves the overall traffic condition
of the city which would lead to fewer accidents.

challenges.
• In general, a metropolitan area can be considered as Environmental
smart when city operations and services such as System
healthcare, education, transport, parking, and electricity
grid are supported through ICT (Information and
Communication technologies).

• All such services require execution of several services

under an orchestrated coordination.
• The smart city design must be citizen-centric. Despite the
Economy complexity of the city's systems,
• The architecture must bring benefits to the people
regardless of their ICT (information and communication
technologies )abilities.

3.d. SITE ANALYSIS 3
• Analyze merits and demerits of site.

• Check out for site slopes ,if any ,as they are important factor in unit placements.

• If any potential resource is available at site then their best possible use.

• If any negative factors present at site then how best to balance them.

3.e. TRANSPORT AND TRAFFIC

• All the material incoming or outgoing from the industrial area causes an impact on the infrastructure.

• Calculation of traffic load on the basis of built up area or the production being done in the Transport
Nagar

• We have to study in advance traffic load during Peak Hours Distribution Of Public / Private ,Goods
Transport ,diverting the Traffic during Peak Days of Weeks/ Months/ Years.

• Road traffic control involves directing vehicular and pedestrian traffic around a construction
zone, accident or other road disruption, thus ensuring the safety of emergency response teams,
construction workers and the general public.

4.a.INDUSTRIAL APPROACH 3

• Looking at the city as a huge machine (to live in, work),

which is as efficient and compact (and dictating as well).
• Extension of idea like ‘house is a machine to live in’.
• Technology-controlled to the extent of becoming inhuman
• Futuristic- space cities, mega cities, floating cities, etc.

4.b. ARCHITECTURAL APPROACH

• As per design / planning of Transport Nagar is part of “City Design”
architecture w.r.to large scale complexity responsibility/ understanding
of traffic flow and its components.
• Face lifting of the building while maintaining the original concept
of the exposed concrete character of the facade.
• Provision of escalators and elevators.
• Provision of heating, ventilation and air conditioning inside the
terminal
• CCTV & the Security Equipments are the part of Building
Management Systems.
• Provision of solar technologies for Energy efficiency.
• Providing continuous FOB for conflict-free connectivity to the
terminal from the Main Road.
• Provision of bus, car/taxi and two wheeler parking.
• Development of commercial areas in the Terminal

4.c. AESTHETIC APPROACH
• Beauty is the main, if not the only, consideration
• Artist’s approach to city design
• City is essentially a work of art

• Reference Images for Façade Treatment and Aesthetic

4.d. RESOURCE CONSERVATION
• Application of appropriate eco-technology
• Increased use of renewable sources of
energy
• Energy-conserving built environment
• Recycling of materials and use of wastes as
resource
• Social ownership of natural resources
including land
• Voluntary measures of the community
towards simple lifestyles

4.a. POLLUTION CONTROL APPROACH
• In many areas across the globe, populations live close to major roads and highways and are thus
exposed to tailpipe emissions from vehicle traffic, non-tailpipe emissions (such as brake and tire
wear), and noise that may have adverse effects on their health and well-being.
• Urban microclimatic is a local set of atmospheric conditions (wind, sun,
humidity etc.) that has significant influence on the concentration of air
pollutants. Therefore, to actively reduce poor air quality in cities, we
need to understand and simulate the urban climate before we design
our urban space. Here are three steps to design for better air quality.

1. Let work on urban Traffic Management Strategies.

2. Use trees, and use them right.

3. Consider building heights.

Transport Nagar is Sub-divided

into 3 major zones -

• Transport Zone
• Supports and Services
• Utility and Infrastructure

All the above three are

subdivided as shown in
diagram.
Each and every sub-division is
inter- related to each other.
