Searching for materials for the project purpose
 Ordinary Portland cement -53 Grade and 43 Grade cement.
 Sand-Passing through 2.36 mm IS sieve.
 Water – Potable Water as IS 456-2000 is used.
 Fly Ash- Pozzolona Fly Ash

CHITRA BAHADUR KUNWAR

 I referred to “Concrete Technology “textbook by MS

Shetty and S. Chand and I became familiar with
different tests adopted on cement and aggregate.
 I referred to the journal “Experimental Study on
Foam Concrete” by “Mahesh Kumar H. Thakrele”.
 The journals are useful for the project.
 I got knowledge about the foam concrete.
 I got knowledge about the properties of the
light weight foam concrete.

 I referred to the journal ,”Effect of Fly Ash on

Strength Properties of Foam Concrete” by “Akshay
Reddy B., Punith A.”
I got the knowledge about:
 The effect of Fly ash on foam concrete where
moulds were prepared with 0%, 50 %, 70% and
100% replacement of sand by Fly ash respectively.
 I referred the journal,” Experimental Study on Foam
Concrete “by “Mahesh Kumar H. Thakrele”.
I got knowledge about:
 Mix design of foam concrete.
 With the help of IS 10262:2009, I got knowledge
about mix design of conventional concrete?

IRENGBAM POLIN MANGANG
 I searched about the Methodology of the project
 Foam can be generated by using drilling machine or foam
generator or manually.
 Cellular light weight concrete is manufacture in two
methods:
 First method consists of mixing a pre formed foam.
 Second method known as autoclave aerated concrete
consists of a mix of lime, sand, cement, water and an
expansion agent.
 I searched about the mix design:
 There is no proper standards for mix design of
CLC
 Application of trial and error method is used
 Water cement ratio is the most important factor.
 I also searched about the foaming agent;
Constrochem India.

AJMAL CK:
 I searched the journal “cellular light weight concrete blocks as a
replacement of burnt clay bricks” by k.krishna bhavani siram.
 I came to know dimensions of CLC blocks and the
comparative properties of CLC blocks and burnt clay
bricks.
 I know the different grades of CLC blocks.

 I searched the journal “feasibility study on conventional

concrete and cellular light weight concrete “by pavan
kanmale.
 I came to know about the mix design of
conventional concrete.
 The results obtained for conventional concrete and
foam concrete for compression test were nearly
same. So foam concrete can be used as
constructing structural member.

 After going through the journals I came to know the methodology
steps are
 Mix design of foam concrete
 Preparation and mixing of foam
 Mixing all the materials
 Poured into the mould
 curing
 Comparison of compressive strength of foam concrete

CHITRA BAHADUR KUNWAR:
 I have done the mix design of foam concrete
 There is no standard mix design so we have to assume
plastic density
 On the basis of the plastic density a mix design is to be done
and site trails are taken
 The water cement ratio is generally taken between 0.4 to
0.60
 From water cement ratio we can calculate the amount of
water
 While doing site trails the cement and fly ash proportion are
taken as 1:1 in mix 1
 For mix 2 cement and fly ash proportion are taken as 1:0.5
and cementitious material and sand proportion are taken as
1:1
 Foaming agent is diluted with water in a ratio of 1:40
 Foaming agent is taken 0.14% of cement weight
 I have studied the details procedure of the test which are as
follows
 Compressive strength
 Water absorption test: 5% less than by volume
 Durability test: durability test are done after 28,56 and 90
days
 Specific strength: strength divided by density.

IRENGBAM POLIN MANGANG:
 I have given the procedure of the experiment
 The weighted raw materials such as cement, fly ash and
cement are mixed dry and the water is added incrementally
to obtain a reasonable working mix as per mix design.
 The required quantity of foam is also added into the same
mix as per mix design.
 After mixing properly they were poured into the cube mould
15cm*15cm*15cm.

AJMAL CK:
 I have searched the location of materials which is used for the
project.
 Cement : Ms playa
 Fly ash: India mart (online) grade p60 having density 960kg
per m^3
 sand: Ms playa
 Foaming agent: India mart (online) which is made from
techcell powder.
 Techcell powder which is very light in weight and 1kg of
powder can produce 10 litres of foaming agent.
