COURSE PLAN
A. LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

Students from +2 of any discipline possessing basic conceptual knowledge and an


attitude of developing managerial skills, reasoning, and thinking in decisive manner. The
Students have to actively involve themselves in class presentations, understanding and
participation in case studies, undertaking assignments and develop the habit of reading
books, journals and newspapers besides active participation in solving quiz and
interactive discussions in the class, which are supplemental in value addition to their
knowledge.

B. OBJECTIVES:

1. To understand the basic concepts of Business and various forms of Business


Organizations with advantages, disadvantages of each forms of organization.
2. To understand and know the Principles of Management which are essential for
managing the Business Organizations.
3. To develop interactive approach during the course so as to create awareness among the
students relating to applicabity of principles of management in real life situation with
special reference to present day dynamic business environment.
4. To develop analytical approach so as to create skill through value addition to enable
the understanding of tools and techniques of decision making.

C.THE SYLLABUS OF THE COURSE:

The Syllabus is divided in to two parts


Part-1-Business Organization-First Part is Business Organization to make students
understand the concepts of Business and Various forms of Business
Organizations.(Divided into 7 Units)
Part-II-Principles of Management-Second part relates to basic Principles of
Management and its application in Business Organizations.( divided in to 29 Units)

D-PEDAGOGY: Interactive approach is encouraged during the whole course for which
the students are advised and expected to come prepared in the class with reading the
study material of the topic to be taken for study in the class. The students shall be
encouraged for active participation in the class not only in the study but in all the
activities like assignment, quiz, group discussion and other exercises.

E-COURSE COMPLETION PLAN:

Credits: 3 hours week-Total hours per week -3 contact hours per week to complete
the syllabus with help of class lectures, Presentations, case studies and interactive
discussion and participation.

Internal Assessment: Marks 100 (shall be done based on the following):

Class Tests: Class Tests containing short theory questions to ascertain that whether the
students could understand the basic concepts or not. (15 to 30 Minutes)

Assignments: Home assignments both individual/group will be used. Cooperation among the
students is encouraged and the students must try the home work/assignments individually. And
the individual effort is necessary for an effective problem solving strategy, which is essential to
good exam performance and to successful professional practice later on. Answers must be neat
and well written.(Marks will be deducted for messy assignments/tests/exam. (Unreadable
work will not be graded). Late assignments will not be accepted (mark of zero).

Mid- Semester Examination: Marks 20

Mid- Semester examination shall be of two hour duration and shall be a combination of
Objective, short theory questions and marking correct answer out of alternative answers.

End -Semester Examination: Marks 50

End-Semester examination shall be of three hours duration. The examination paper shall have
objective type questions, theory questions, short and long answer questions seeking solutions to
given problems.

Attendance Students are required to have minimum attendance of 75% in each subject.
Students with less than said percentage shall not be allowed to appear in the end semester
examination.

Cell Phones and other Electronic Communication Devices: Cell phones and other electronic
communication devices (such as Blackberries) are not permitted in classes, Tests or the
Mid/Final Examination. Such devices must be turned off left at the front or back of the room.

E-Mail and LMS: Each student in the class should have an e-mail id and a pass word to
access the LMS system regularly. Occasionally, important information to the class will be
transmitted via e-mail/LMS. The best way to arrange meetings with us or ask specific
questions is by email.

Passing Criterion: 40 % of the highest marks in the class’ 40 % criterion is applicable to


the End-semester examination marks and the total marks of obtained (Internal Assessment+
Mid-semester examination + End-semester Examination by a student.
