LEARNING Main Objectives:


OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:
(a) listen to a song and respond to teacher’s questions orally
based on the lyrics.
(b) listen and cross out at least 5 ordinal numbers correctly in
Bingo game.

Complementary Objective:
Pupils will be able to read and answer at least 12 questions
correctly in an interactive PowerPoint in groups.

ACTIVITIES Pre Lesson (5mins) :
1. Teacher shows a calendar to pupils and sticks it on the board.
2. Teacher asks pupils what day and what month it is.
3. Pupils respond to teacher orally with teacher’s guidance.
4. Teacher writes on the board, e.g. It’s Tuesday, 11 February.
5. Teacher explains to the pupils that we write Tuesday, 11
February but we say Tuesday, the eleventh of February.
6. Pupils repeat the date after teacher.
7. Elaborating from the responses provided, teacher guides the
pupils to guess and predict today’s topic: Ordinal numbers.

Lesson Development:
Activity 1 (20 mins)
1. Teacher directs pupils’ attention to the picture in the textbook.
2. Teacher asks pupils what they can see in the pictures.
3. Pupils listen to a song and guess what it is going to be about.
4. Teacher teaches pupils the sentence structure and explains to
them. E.g.
 What’s the date today? It’s….
 When is your birthday? It’s on…
 When is New Year’s Day? It’s on…
 When is Mother’s Day? It’s on…
5. Every pupil is given a word card from the teacher.
6. Pupils are asked to paste the word card on the board.
7. Teacher introduce and explains the ordinal numbers to the
pupils.
8. Pupils repeat the ordinal numbers after teacher.

Activity 2 (15 mins)


1. Pupils are divided into groups.
2. Teacher shows an interactive PowerPoint (FunBob) with
questions to the pupils.
3. Pupils discuss the answers in groups. After the discussion,
each group takes turn to send a representative to write their
answers on board. The group who is the fastest and answers
correctly will be rewarded with marks.
4. The group with the highest marks is the winner.
Activity 3 (15mins)
1. Pupils are divided into groups.
2. Each group will be given a card and a marker pen.
3. Teacher asks pupils to draw a 4 x 4 grid on the card and write
a different ordinal number in each box (1-20).
4. Teacher draws an example on the board.
5. Teacher explains to pupils that they will call out ordinal
numbers in random order. If pupils have the number they call
out, the put x over it.
6. The first group to get all their numbers crosses out and shouts
Bingo! wins the game.

Post Lesson (5mins):


1. Teacher asks the pupils what they have learnt in today’s
lesson.
2. Teacher reinforces the ordinary numbers that they learnt in the
classroom.
3. Pupils are asked to complete their workbook (pg 30) as their
homework.
