5. A DC ring main ABCDA is fed from point A with 250V and the resistance of various sections are
as follows: AB=0.02Ω , BC=0.018 Ω , CD=0.025 Ω , DA=0.01 Ω. The main supplies the load of
150A at point B, 300A at point C and 250A at point D. Determine the voltage at each load point.
If A and C are interconnected with 0.02 Ω find current through interconnector. [L3] 10M

6. A two-wire d.c distributor AB, 600 meters long is loaded as under:


Distance from A(meters): 150 300 350 450
Loads in Amperes : 100 200 250 300
The feeding point A is maintained at 440V and that of B at 430V. If each conductor has a resistance
of 0.01Ω per 100 meter, calculate
(i) The current supplied from A to B (ii). The power dissipated in the distributor. 10M

4. Derive the equations for voltage drop and power loss in a radial feeder with uniformly distributed
load fed at both end? [L5] 10M
5. A single phase line has resistance and reactance (go and return) as 0.06 and 0.1 ohm/Km. The
lengths of section AB and BC are 1Km each. The voltage at the far end is 220Volts. I b= 100A, 0.8 Lead
and Ic=100A, UPF. Find the voltage at the sending end and the phase angle difference between the
voltages of two ends, if (i) p.f’s of the loads are with reference to far end voltage and (ii) p.f’s of the
loads are with reference to the voltages at the load points. [L3] 10M

6. A single phase ac distributor AB 300m long is fed from end A and is loaded as under (i) 100A at
0.707 p.f lagging 200m from point A (ii) 200A at 0.8 p.f lagging 300m from point A. The
load resistance of distributor is 0.2Ω and 0.1Ω/km. Calculate the total voltage drop in the
distributor. The load p.f Refer to the voltage at the far end? [L3] 10M
