Agenda for repair of running transformer went under breakdown.

A. Transformer Inspection and Testing:-

Following test has been performed when running transformer went under breakdown:-
1. Low voltage test
2. Oil analysis test
3. Internal Inspection
4. Furan analysis

If above test indicates major faults and OEM recommends for factory inspection/repair, then
it has been decided by transformer committee that some classification in capacity wise age
criteria may be done.

B. Capacity wise classification :-

Following classification has been made if running transformer went under breakdown and
test results indicates major faults:-

S.no. Transformer Capacity Age criteria

1 132/33KV 10 MVA Not feasible to repair
2 132/33KV 20MVA Not feasible to repair if age more than 20 years
220/132KV 100 MVA
3 132/33KV 50, 80 MVA Not feasible to repair if age more than 25 years
220/132KV 150,160,200MVA

If defective transformer comes under the capacity wise age criteria for repair then the past
tripping / Breakdown / Repair history of said transformer may be analyse.

C. Repaired/Non-repaired Transformer:-

1. Repaired Transformer:- If transformer runs successfully without any issues and repair
age is less than 10 years then we may compare the cost of repair from current rate of
new transformer of same rating.
2. Non-repaired Transformer:- If capacity wise age criteria is fulfilled then we may
compare the cost of repair from current rate of new transformer of same rating.

D. Repair Cost:-

If repair cost of transformer is less than 60% of transformer cost then we may go for open
tender/OEM (preferably) for repair.

Agenda for transportation of running transformer (Before departure).

A. Age wise classification :-

It has been decided by transformer committee that running transformer of any rating less than
30 years may be recommended for transportation after its healthiness check and insulation
test.
B. Transformer Inspection and Testing:-

Following test has been performed:-

1. Low voltage test
2. Oil analysis test

If above test results show healthy, then it has been decided by transformer committee that
past tripping / Breakdown / Repair history of said transformer may be analyse.

C. Transformer history:-
If transformer has a history of Major fault/Repair/Others then it may not be recommended for
transportation.

D. Losses:-
High Losses transformer may not be recommended for transportation.

E. Insulation testing(DP test):-

This type of testing may be done by third party. If DP value less than 200, then transformer is
recommended for transportation.
