Cuenca´s and Texas´ independence activities

Theme: holiday

Student: David Feijoo

Introduction

Throughout the world there are many holidays, this time it will take into account the

independence and its activities to celebrate it. In the first place, independence is a

holiday that symbolizes freedom and peace. Also, it was the result of many political,

social and economic events. In some cities there are several activities as parades, parties

and other events, for example: Cuenca and Texas both have similarities and differences

in how they celebrate their independence.

Similarities

Before starting with the similarities we should know that people have a free day to

enjoy the activities that will be given in that holiday. First, one of the most important

similarities between the independence of Cuenca and Texas there are educational

activities to celebrate this holiday, such as "visiting the museum to learn the facts of the

independence and history of the city." Moreover both have parades and parties.

In addition to the similarities, there are also several differences in their activities. First,

we must know date of independence of the two cities, in Cuenca it happened on

November 3rd, unlike Texas that happens on March 2nd. Second, other activities that are
carried out are the parades. In Cuenca there are student and military parades, says

Giovany, A. (2016) "the student parade is a dance of the fourth elements and military is

the presentation of the Armed Forces of Cuenca”. In Texas, on the other hand, a 5K

parade is a colorful family parade in which many giant balloons pass along Congress

Avenue in Austin. Psencik, K. (2017). Finally, in "Texas has a memorial service for

Texas veterans in the Texas State Cemetery" However, in Cuenca`s independence is the

choice of the Queen of Cuenca and the "Chola Cuencana"

It is surprising that Texas independence has activities or services for veterans of Texas .

I think that, they have different activities as countries show their customs and traditions.

Moreover people give importance to the celebration of independence. There are many

things that draw attention to Texas for their varied activities. We know that the

independence is a historical fact about a place, which has differences in customs and

traditions that must be respected.
