Section: Date:
G9 - Malinao 12:45 – 1:45 4th QUARTER February 24, 2020

The learners demonstrate an understanding of:

Content Standards:  Conservation of Mechanical Energy

Performance Standards The learners shall be able to:

create a device that shows conservation of mechanical energy
The learners demonstrate an understanding of:
Learning Competencies  explain energy transformation in various activities/events;

The Learners should be able to:

1. Discuss activities that demonstrate conservation of
I. OBJECTIVES mechanical energy;
2. Describe conservation of mechanical energy;
3. Perform activities that demonstrate conservation of
energy.
II. SUBJECT MATTER Conservation of Mechanical Energy

1. Conservation of mechanical energy is one of the fundamental
laws in science.
- when we say mechanical energy is conserved, the total
mechanical energy, which is the sum of kinetic energy and
all kinds of potential energy of a system is constant:

E = K + U = constant
Concepts Which means that;
E = E initial – E final = 0
Ei = E f
K i + Ui = K f + Uf

B. Materials LM, PPT, TV, Visual Aids (Cartolina. Paper strips)

III. PROCEDURES
a. Prayers
b. Greetings
A. Routine Activity
c. Cleaning and arrangement of chairs
d. Checking of attendance
B. Motivation The students already have prior knowledge in transformation of
energy so start the module by reviewing them by asking the
following questions:
*What is potential energy?
*What is kinetic energy?
ACTIVITY 1: "FREE PASTE!"
This activity is entitled, “Free Paste.” .
Mechanics:
*The teacher have prepared an example of a potential and kinetic
energy printed in a paper strips.
C. (Engage)
*Each student will freely pick only one paper strips and will paste
it on the board were it really belongs.
*Each student should also communicate to each other in order to
place the paper strips properly.
*This will test if the previous topics retains in the brain of each
student.
*New topic will be introduce and we will be guided by our
objectives.
ACTIVITY 2: “BOUNCY BALL”
D. (Explore) Refer to Learner’s Module pp.297-298
Mechanics:
*The students will be grouped, with a 5-7 members.
- See attached sheet -
Guide Questions:
E. (Explain)
Q22. Which equation(s) can you use to calculate these velocities?
Q23. What happens to the kinetic energy of the ball after its
collision with the ground? What does this mean?

F. (Elaborate) The teacher will play a video about conservation of mechanical

energy.

IV. Assessment
Student’s output on the attached activity at the back.
(Evaluation)

V. Agreement Study all the previous topics about work, power, and energy
