Abstract:
My project is about white board cleaner that erases the whole board at a time. White board
cleaner is simply machine that erases whole board at a time at the end of lecture which
saves time. It uses simple gear and pinion mechanism with a vertical rod with mounted
eraser at one flat end the faces the board. The vertical rod is made to move from left to
right. Duster erases small area and doesnt make board clean in which white board cleaner
can be more advantageous.
The rack and pinion mechanism with the motor fitted in it helps in the movement of the
vertical rod with the brush left right.
The design and the animation analysis is done with the software solidworks.
 1. Introduction

Automatic white board cleaner is motorized cleaner connected with duster for
saving time and energy .Cleans and brightens whiteboards without leaving a residue.
Removes old marker ink and is effective on all colors of dry-erase ink. Effectively
eliminates ghosting, smearing, smudging and shadow tracings. Restores
your whiteboard to a like new finish. Makes writing brighter and reading easier

The main components of automated white board cleaner project are listed below:

 Rack and pinion

1.2 Working

The working of automatic white board cleaner includes the motion of rack and
pionion.They are large in size, for that reason, it is very time consuming and tedious
process to erase the writings from the board with duster manually. It breaks the
concentration of both lecturers and listeners. Automatic Whiteboard Cleaner can solve
these problems. Automatic whiteboard cleaner will reduce the time and also the effort. It
takes around 6secs to clear the board smoothly. This paper represents the design and
construction of automatic whiteboard cleaner. The system consists of Arduino
microcontroller, the driver module, dc gear motor, rack and pinion mechanism, the sonar
sensor, supports, and a cleaner bar to give that an automation figure. When the switch is
on, it moves across the full width of the board and its direction is reversed automatically
in order to clean the board. So, this “Automatic Whiteboard Cleaner” is a great
replacement of “duster” and it can be suggested to use this to reduce the effort of the
board user as well as to introduce the classroom with an automation system

The automatic white board cleaner comparatively cleans the white board more smoothly at
uniform speed than that of manual cleaning process with Duster. Thus the automatic white
board cleaner is more efficient as the cleaning is smoother and faster.
