Solution
Overview
The Maintenance Kit is composed of four parts; fuser, transfer roller, picks roller
assembly and separator roller assembly. This document outlines the proper replacement
procedure for each of the parts. Click the appropriate part below to see the steps:

Fuser
CAUTION—HOTSURFACE: The inside of the printer might be
hot.
To reduce the risk of injury from a hot component, allow the surface
to cool before touching.

1 Power off the printer and remove the power cable.

Open the rear door and slide it away from the machine

to remove it.

3 Press the two side latches to open the fuser access door.

4 Loosen the two fuser thumb crews.

Insert the new fuser kit and tighten the two fuser thumb Image 6a

screws.

7 Close the fuser access door.

Connect the power cable and power on the printer to

test it.

Send the old fuser kit back to Lexmark for recycling
10 purposes. You can use the packaging materials that
came with the new fuser kit to do so.

Transfer roller

2 Remove the toner cartridge bottle and Imaging Unit.

Unpack the new transfer roller kit from the package but
do not remove the protective plastic covering the foam
surface.

Important! When installing the new transfer roller,
avoid all contact with the foam surface, or print quality
issues might result.

Insert the transfer roller starting on the left side and Image 5a
then on the right. You should hear a clicking sound

indicating that the transfer roller has been locked in
place.

6 Slowly pull to remove the protective plastic.

7 Insert the Imaging Unit and then the toner cartridge. Image 7a

Pick roller assembly

Pull the media tray out from the printer until you meet

resistance.

5 To install the pick roller assembly, hold the paper flag
down out of the way as shown in Image 5a. This is
especially important on input options because less
room exists in this area.
Note: When installing the pick roller assembly, avoid
all contact with the roller surfaces, or paper jams might
result.
Important! Failure to keep the flag out of the way
