Fault code: MID 185 - PID 70 - FMI 0

General information on the fault code:
MID185 G051 - Air production management ECU
PID70 Parking brake contact state
FMI-0 Data existing but above the normal operating band
Appliance(s) implicated:

Appliance(s) implicated:

G051 Air production management ECU

Condition(s) and reason(s) for saving of fault code:

The pressure is over 10 bar in the handbrake spring cylinders.

Mechanical fault at paring brake spring cylinders level.
The G051 equipment is defective.

Perceptible symptoms or "customer complaint" due to fault:

D107 Air management fault warning light

The warning light D048 comes on (D048: "STOP" warning light ; D049: "SERVICE" warning
light).

The following message is displayed:

PARK BRAKE INFO WRONG

Recording of the fault code by the ECU G051.

The warning light D048 comes on (D048: "STOP" warning light ; D049: "SERVICE" warning
light).

The following message is displayed:

Troubleshooting and repair method:

In order not to damage the equipment, the repair steps should be carried out in the
correct order.

IN NO CIRCUMSTANCE SHOULD THE "AIR PRODUCT MANAGEMENT" SYSTEM BE

DISASSEMBLED.

Only the cartridge and the exhaust pipe can be subjected to maintenance.

General checks:

Check the general state of the function:

 The wiring harnesses and the fluids routing pipes are sound.
 The connectors are neither oxidized nor physically damaged.
 The connecting arrangement is not damaged.
 The connectors are properly plugged into their equipment.

Diagnostics using the RENAULT TRUCKS test tool:

Using the RENAULT TRUCKS test tool, perform the operation 5630-08-03-01.

Advanced control and monitoring:

Key: in the illustration above, the unit G051 is identified by item "A".

The location (see illustration above) is given as an indication only, for more precision, refer to
the appropriate vehicle repair manual.

Preparation for tests and measurements:

Turn the ignition key to the "stop" position. Turn the master switch to the "OFF" position. Turn
the master switch to the "ON" position. Erase the fault code then restart the engine. Check
whether the code is again recorded. If so, turn the ignition key to the "stop" position, turn the
master switch back to the "OFF" position and wit for 30 seconds before undertaking any
troubleshooting.

Tests and measurements:

Check the actual pressure in the spring cylinders in the "parking brake released" position
using an external pressure gauge.
Check that the air pressures are less than 9 bars.
If P > 9 bars for more than 5 second(s), check out the spring cylinder.
If P ≤ 9 bars, compare the pressure reading on the external pressure gauge and the "Park
Brake Chamber" pressure reading information G051 shown on the diagnostic tool for more
than 5 second(s).
If the value given by G051 is different from the reading taken using the external pressure
gauge, change G051.
