Types of
boxes
There are mainly four types of corrugated box, single-phase corrugated box, single
wall corrugated box, double-wall corrugated box, triple wall corrugated box. We will
have a look at the difference between them and their application in various
industries.

Single-phasecorrugated
type of corrugated sheet consists of a single flute and one or two sheets of linear
board. The flute is glued to the linear board. Single-phase corrugated are usually
sold in the form of sheet rolls and are most commonly used to wrap around product
for protection or cushioning.

Singlewallcorrugatedbox
type of corrugated box consists of a one sheet of corrugated medium which is glued
and placed between two sheets of liner board. This type of corrugated box has
multiple uses in retail industries and as shipping boxes.

Doublewallboard
walled corrugated boxes consist of a two-layer of corrugated medium glued between
three layers of liner board. Hence, it makes the box more rigid and can be used for
packaging of heavy products or products which are more delicate. This type of
corrugated is widely used in shipping of electronic products.

Triplewallboard
one which is strongest of all type of corrugated box consist of three layers of
corrugated medium and four-layer of liner board. Triple wall corrugated boxes are
mainly used in packaging of industrial parts due to their durability and higher burst
strength.

PROCESS –
1. The process begins by making corrugated board on a
corrugating line, a long series of linked machines totaling the
size of a football field. Paper is fed into the corrugator, where it is
steam-heated and pressed to form corrugated cardboard. One roll
of cardboard is corrugated and then glued between two other
layers. Corn starch glue bonds the corrugated medium (wavy
layer) to the liners (layers of paper). Two liners and a corrugated
medium make up your standard three-layer corrugated board.

2. The medium is first fed through the preheating rollers, then into the
corrugating rollers. Steam is forced through both sets of rollers at
175-180psi. As the paper passes through, temperatures reach
350-365 degrees Fahrenheit. 

3. The corrugated rolls are then covered with IO flutes. The size of
the flute changes the width of the corrugated medium. When the
hot paper passes between the corrugating rolls, flutes trap and
bend it to form the middle of the corrugated cardboard. A finished
piece of corrugated cardboard is comprised of a single corrugated
layer sandwiched between two liners.
 4. Next, the corrugated medium goes to the single-facer glue station
where one layer of liner is glued to the medium. Then the medium
and liner go to the double backer glue station where the layer from
the bridge is added. The cardboard is then passed over steam-
heated plates which cure the glue.

5. At the end of the corrugator, the cardboard is trimmed and cut into
large sheets, or box blanks, which then slide into a stacker that
loads them onto a platformated plates, which cure the glue.

corrugation sheets for making a different ply. Sheet pasting
machine comprises 3 rollers, which are smoothly finished for

chrome rollers with these machines for improving the
quality.Long life services of the machine and to ensure the gum
crushing. The machine is simple in design and easy to operate
which insure smooth finish and working. Hand fed sheet
pasting machine is useful for gluing fluted side of board for
making 3, 5, 7 ply corrugated board.
