“Let’s fight depression”

Causes of depression and how to deal with it, Last November 23,2018 at UB-IRC
represented by Mr. Lope S. Hubac a values education program supervisor-Bohol
Division. Mr. Lope discussed about the cause of depression and how to cope with
it, by presenting his ways and ideas that can benefit students or teachers on how
to cope with depression.
He said the best way to fight depression is to love oneself. The presentation aims
to strengthen the Filipino culture, values, ideals which are Maka-Diyos, Makatao,
makakalikasan at makabansa. It is very desirable and effective in the way he
creates moral awakening to all students and Filipinos that are suffering with
different types of depression. Hopefully students who attended the program last
November 23,2018 , learned a valuable lesson on now being depressed can’t
change nothing to our happiness. As we are aware on what to do, what’s accurate
and how to deal with it

“Science and Technology”

UBians preparing for emergency drills. Earthquake drill for emergency
preparedness if earthquake ever happen again. University of Bohol(UB)
conducted on earthquake drill last July 29,2019. All of the staffs, and students
participated the earthquake drill, proceeds to the diamond building, Founders
gate, Parking lot, and palma gate, as they were doing the drop-cover-hold.
Junior High School prepared Sci-Math-Com for students to cooperate and do what
they’re assigned. Bearing the Theme “Metabolize :Nourishing the Filipino youth
towards National well being” last September 30,2019 held at the UB-gymnasium.
Many activities were held during the program like: robotics, terrarium, barge
making , poster making, scimathcom and etc. The awarding of winners
Of different events took place. Making the grade 9 Fidelity as an over all
Champion. Thanks to Math-Computer Coordinator-Mr. Alfredo Guirit and the
teachers. All of this will not be possible without them.
 “Emma Watson”
Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born on April 15,1990. She is an English
actress, Model and a n activist. She was born in Paris, schooled on Oxford
University, she was trained the branch of “Stage Coach Theatre arts”. Her first
professional acting role was Hermoine Granger <3 in the Harry Potter film series.
She also appeared in the 2007 television adaption “Ballet Shoes” and voice acted
“The tale of Desperaux on 2008. These are the following movies she was involved
“My week with Marilyn”(2011), “The perks of being a wallflower”(2012) “The
bling ring”(2013), “This is the end”(2013) Noah(2014) “beauty and the
beast(2017) Little woman (2019) regression(2015) and the circle(2017). She had
done a lot of movies because of her admiring work, beauty, and her brilliance.
During 2011 to 2014, Emma splited her time in acting and focusing her education
at brown university collage, oxford and graduated at brown university with a
bachelors degree, English literature on May 2014. Back in 1999, casting began for
“Harry potter and the philosopher’s stone”. The film adaption of british author
J.K. Rowling and his best selling novel. They were amaze of Emma’s confidence
after eight auditions she finally got the roll of Hermoine Granger <3 with Daniel
Radcliffe as Harry potter and Rupert grint as ron weasly. J.K. rowling supported
Emma Watson from her first screen test.
“Harry Potter and the philosophers stone” was released in 2001. People were
amazed of her outstanding performance, led her to be casted in different movies
mentioned earlier. The film broke records for opening-day sales and opening
weekend takings was the highest-grossing film of 2001.
Kinds of critics are actually positive from the audience saying that her
performance is “admirable” and “she stole the show” which I think is a good
thing. She was nominated for five awards, for her outstanding performance in
philosophers stone, She won the Young artist award for leading young actress. A
year later they made another movie and started to be Hermoine again in Harry
Potter and the chamber of secrets. It was an another successful movie, She won
an award called the otto award from the German magazine Bravo for her
performance. And there is still 6 more movies made, another series of Harry
Potter, all of them are successful and awesome.
Emma Watson is a great woman. At the age of 29 she already accomplished and
inspired a lot of people/things with her talent. She also joined or performed her
speech in the UN about her own path of feminism and gender equality and
inspired a lot of people with her wise words.

“Poverty in Philippines”
Poverty is an issue delt with throughout the world, but we are really not aware on
it’s conditions. Philippines has suffered poverty, mostly happens in Luzon. Eastern
Samar is now the second poorest provice in the Philippines 55.4% poverty
incidence. Poverty is a very serious problem in the world. People understands
poverty as poor which I also do understand it. They are so many factors that
didn’t really help filipinos find incomes. One is Natural Disaster, Philippines is
considered the most disaster prone country. This includes the, typhoons,
earthquakes, volcanic eruption, floods, landslides ,and military action against
Muslim’s. This factor leads them to losing there homes and valuable things.
Second is soil erosion another major concern for the Filipinos, without farming
there will be no food provided by the breadwinners in the family leading to
starvation. Third, population growth. We are one of the most populated country
leading to poverty=no money=no food=no education and etc.
Its mostly because of having too many childrens, according to the Population
Commission(Popcom), 24 babies are born to teenage mothers every hour. Almost
200,000 Filipino teens gets pregnant. Most of them are ages 15-19. The reasons
are either rape, having a serious relationship at an early age, or just desperate
and etc. Even though Philippines has an improved economy today, majority of
the people living there is still struggling in poverty.People living in the Philippines
are not enjoying the equal. It is the state that a person has a little or no money at
all or few or no material possessions.
These people encountered struggles in life and probably cannot eat every day or
every meal, can’t afford to buy clothes as protection to their body.
They have no shelter to live. Poverty is visible on how do the people live and how
much the money they have.
Not all people do not understand the true meaning of poverty, some people are
not aware of the condition.

If the person is unemployed or no job, he cannot buy anything that they want
because they have no money to use to meet the basic needs, therefore they will
feel so poor and can cause depressions which can also cause complicated
diseases. One of the reason why people become poor is the uneducated, these
people tends to become a construction worker or will belong to the lowest paid
individual in the society, thus their salary cannot support the needs of their
families. Other problem that can cause poverty are the disasters. Many people
lose their source of living and income. They are then left without anything.
Corruption is also another reason of poverty. How can we prevent poverty?
Philippine can prevent poverty my looking a job or by engaging themselves in
entrepreneurship. People should strive to go to school because if the people in
the Philippines are educated they can compete to other nations, there are lots of
opportunities knocking elsewhere that can contribute to income generation.
If the people in the Philippines are earning, economic would also be able to stand
better. Corrupt should be punish and people should take good care the
environment.
