Intellectual Autobiography

I am following the guidelines.

 I am Regil Marion Bacsarsa currently studying in University of Science and Technology

of Southern Philippines taking BS Civil Engineering. I took BSCE because since
childhood I yearn to become a civil engineer. I forgot what influenced me to take this
course but since elementary I always love math until now. I love math because I don’t
want to explain in words just in numbers and solutions. When I study math, the fastest
way to learn is to watch videos how to solve it. I am not into theories about how to solve
problems; I am more into the process of the solution but that doesn’t mean I can’t learn
by reading the theories it’s just really slow. I can study anywhere as long as I have
earphones so that I can listen to music while studying. When I am in class I don’t like to
jot down notes so that I can listen to the teacher but regretted it after because I am
forgetful.
 The people who influenced me to love math are my siblings, they also love math and I
always watch them how to solve math problems when we were young. I was grateful to
them because they influence me to love math.
 Math is so challenging and I love challenges. To love math you should learn how to be
patient. When I solve problem (any kind of problem) I can’t stop thinking about it when I
can’t solve it. It’s much easier solving math problem than creating essay like this one. In
math you just have to learn the process and theory behind the formula but in writing
essay you should learn many things to write understandable essay.
 I don’t judge people through their appearance especially when I don’t know that person
very well. When I start working I can’t stop it unless there are temptations (laziness,
cellphone). I am calm when there’s trouble so that I can think reasonably. I don’t have
high resistance to temptation. I have low self-control.
 I am really lazy, that’s it.
 Hard work is more important than talent. As long as you work hard and have self-
discipline you can achieve your goal. Your talent doesn’t matter as long as you can’t use
it properly and in the right way. Always pray to God every day and you should persevere
no matter how big or small the challenges He give to you.
