SPEAK ME OUT!
One representative will be chosen from the class and will going to pick a
word from the box. S/He will tell it to the class without voice or sound coming out
from the mouth. The class should guess what their representative want to speak
out.

 ungrouped
 lowest
 highest
 ten

D. ACTIVITY
FIRST TEN!
I will be posting ungrouped set of data on the board. After solving what is
needed, fall in a line and I am going to check your work. First ten students who will get
the correct answer will get 10 points, 11th to 15th students who will get the correct
answer will get 5 points and 3 points for the rest.
Given raw data on the board, follow the instruction.
12 5 22 30 7 36 14 42 15 53 25
 Arrange the data from lowest to highest.
 Using the formula for identifying the position of quartile, solve for second quartile.

 What if you change the denominator into 10 and k into any integer from 1-10?
IV. ANALYSIS
1. What have you noticed about the way we solved in this activity?
2. In how many equal parts is the raw data had been divided based on the activity?
3.
V. ABSTRACTION
DECILES FOR UNGROUPED DATA
The deciles are the nine score points which divide a distribution into ten equal parts.
They are computed in the same way that the quartiles for ungrouped data are calculated.

Example:

Find the 3rddecile, 5thdecile and 8thdecile of the following raw data.
31 35 42 40 28 15 23 33 20 18 19 20 25 38 28

Step 1: Arrange the raw data in ascending order

15 18 19 20 20 23 25 28 28 31 33 35 38 40 42

Step 2: Solve and locate the position of specified decile.

3 3 3 48
D3 = ( n+1 ) = (15+ 1 )= ( 16 )= =4.8 ≈ 5th
10 10 10 10
5 5 5 80
D5 = ( n+1 ) = (15+ 1 )= ( 16 )= =8th
10 10 10 10
8 8 8 128
D8 = ( n+1 ) = (15+ 1 )= ( 16 )= =12.8 ≈ 13th
10 10 10 10
Step 3: Interpret the value obtained.
Third decile is the 5th data. Therefore, D 3 which is 20 is below the median score.
Fifth decile is the 8th data. Therefore, D 5 which is 28is equal to the median score.
Eighth decile is the 13th data. Therefore, D8 which is 38 is above the median score.

VI. APPLICATION
Below are the mathematics’ test score of 20 Grade 10- Marinduque:
23 14 15 28 19 25 30 19 35 20 30 17 18 19 20 21 13 16 22 25
Solve for 2nddecile, 5thdecile and 9thdecile then interpret.

VIII. ASSIGNMENT
What is the formula of decile for grouped data?

X. REMARKS
