CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

SUMMARY OF FINDINGS

In summary after the researchers conducted the study, the researchers found out that

in terms of the Environmental conditions, the learners always considered English skills a

necessity for their future job, and they rarely find their parents and family members

communicate and speak in English at home. In terms of their performance conditions, they

always find their teachers supportive, and sometimes considered that listeners are patient,

understanding, sympathetic and supportive. Moreover, in terms of personal conditions, the

learners always use multimedia in enhancing/improving their speaking performance, and they

always feel anxious and motivated in speaking English in class. However, they sometimes

perceived that Sex/Gender had influences their English speaking performance and problems.

The study reveals that among the three areas influencing the learners speaking

performance and problems, the performance conditions greatly influenced the learners’

perception towards speaking performance and problems compared to personal conditions and

environmental conditions respectively.

The study further tells that that anxiety greatly influenced the learners speaking

performance. While, the most common factor that influences the students’ speaking

problem is their worry about committing mistakes.


CONCLUSION

After conducting the study on the factors affecting the speaking performance and

problems of the BSED Second Year Learners of Golden Heritage Polytechnic College, it is

concluded that performance conditions greatly influenced the learners’ perception towards

speaking performance and problems compared to personal conditions and environmental

conditions respectively. Other conditions like anxiety greatly influenced the learners speaking

performance. Moreover, the students are worry of committing mistakes, a factor that

influenced or contributed to the students’ speaking problem.

RECCOMENDATIONS

This study considered the efforts of the school and the educators to make the learners aware

on their speaking performance and problems. Moreover, the following recommendations are

highly suggested to make learners more aware of their speaking performance and problems:

 Teach how to increase self-esteem to speak in public.

 Use role playing activities to improve the students speaking performance and boost self-

confidence.

 Listen to audio recording and watch English TV shows to know and practice the correct

utterance and pronunciation of words.

 Educators should always monitor and correct the speaking performance of the students

through speaking tasks and activities.
