MUNICIPAL HEALTH AND BIRTHING CENTER

Introduction

The Architectural Design Course aims to educate students of the creative process and
fundamentals of design. It also aims to develop students’ analytical and critical thinking skills in solving
various architectural design issues using architectural design solutions.

Community health centers have a unique mission of ensuring access for undeserved, under-
insured and uninsured patients. It is a community-based and patient-directed organization. Its goal is to
provide first aid, maternal and child health care, diagnosis of social diseases, and other basic health
services to all the members of the community it is serving.
A hospital and other health facilities shall be planned and designed to observe appropriate
architectural practices, to meet prescribed functional programs, and to conform to applicable codes as part
of normal professional practice (DOH).

Project Brief

A. Objective

The purpose of this study is to design a Municipal Health and Birthing Center that would
provide immediate care for the municipality it serves. A healing environment within the vicinity is a
must. It aims to deliver comprehensive, culturally competent, high-quality primary health care
services.

B. Site Description

The relatively flat project site is approximately one thousand one hundred ninety (1,190
sqm) in area and an inside lot located at barangay San Gabriel, Tuguegarao City. The site is
bounded by institutional buildings. Lot bearings are: 1-2 N 83.46’ E 22.20 meters, 2-3 S 11.03’ E
51.47 meters, 3-4 S 83.18’ W 24.09 meters and 4-1 N 8.56’ W 51.55 meters.
