2.System Access

2.1 Overview

The CLI of OLT can be configured and managed via local terminal connection or a remote
session using Telnet. The OLT supports three methods to gain access for management and
configuration tasks:
1. Local access to the OLT through the RS232 console port on front panel, see below picture.

2. Dedicated local Telnet connection to the OLT by using the MGMT port on OLT front panel
(outband interface).

3. Remote access over the provider’s Ethernet/IP network by using Telnet. Therefore, an inband
management channel.

2.2 Console Access

OLT provides console interface (marked as “CONSOLE” RJ45 type port) .
Console access requires:
 Console cable: RJ-45-to-DB-9 console cable
 Terminal emulation software: HyperTerminal

Run a VT terminal emulation software (e.g. HyperTerminal) with the attributes

Band Rate: 9600
Data Bit: 8
Parity Check: NO
Stop Bit: 1
Flow Control: NO

When the serial port tool is successfully connected to the OLT, in the actual command line,
“username” input root, “password” input admin.

4.3 Create GPON ONT profile

GPON ONT profile include DBA profile, line-profile and srv-profile.

 DBA profile: The DBA profile describes the traffic parameters of the GPON, and the
T-CONT dynamically allocates bandwidth by binding the DBA template to increase the
upstream bandwidth utilization.

 Line-profile: The Line-profile describes the binding relationship between the T-CONT
and the DBA template, the QoS mode of the service flow, the mapping between the GEM
port and the ONT side service.

 Srv-profile:The Srv-profile provides a service configuration channel for ONTs managed

by OMCI.

a. Configure DBA profile

You can use the show dba-profile command to query the existing DBA profile in the
system. If the existing DBA profile in the system does not meet the requirements, you
need to execute the dba-profile to add it.

Create the same DBA profile for different business types. DBA profile number is 1, type is
Type3, guaranteed bandwidth is 8Mbit / s, the maximum bandwidth is 20Mbit / s.

OLT(config)# dba-profile profile-id 10

OLT(dba-profile-1)# type3 assure 8192 max 20480
OLT(dba-profile-1)# commit

Note:

DBA based on the entire ONT scheduling, according to the ONT business type and number
of users to select the appropriate bandwidth type and bandwidth size. Note that the sum
of fixed and guaranteed bandwidth can not be greater than the total bandwidth of the
PON interface.

b. Configure ONT line-profile

Create a GPON ONT line-profile with profile ID 1 and bind DBA profile 1.

OLT(config)# ont-lineprofile profile-id 1

OLT(ont-lineprofile-1)# tcont 1 dba-profile-id 1
Create a different GEM Port for different business types.Among them

 GEM port 1 is used to carry Internet service

 GEM port 2 is used to carry voice service

 GEM port 3 is used to carry video services.

OLT(ont-lineprofile-1)# gem add 1 tcont 1

OLT(ont-lineprofile-1)# gem add 2 tcont 1
OLT(ont-lineprofile-1)# gem add 3 tcont 1

Configure GEM PORT mapping-mode as VLAN。

OLT(ont-lineprofile-1)# mapping-mode vlan

Different GEM ports are mapped to different vlan for different service types. Among them,

 Map the GEM port with index 1 to VLAN 100 to carry the Internet service
 Map the GEM port with index 2 to VLAN 200 to carry the voice service.

 Map the GEM port with index 3 to VLAN 300 to carry the video service.

OLT(config-ont-lineprofile-1)# gem mapping 1 1 vlan 100

OLT(config-ont-lineprofile-1)# gem mapping 2 2 vlan 200
OLT(config-ont-lineprofile-1)# gem mapping 3 3 vlan 300

After the configurations are complete, run the commit command to apply the

parameters setting.

OLT(ont-lineprofile-1)# commit
OLT(ont-lineprofile-1)# exit

c. Configure ONT srv-profile

Create a GPON ONT service profile with profile ID 1. Configure the number of ETH ports
on the ONT to be 4, the number of POTS ports is 2, and the first port VLAN of the ONT is
100 for the Internet service. The third port VLAN of the ONT is 300 for the video service.

OLT(config)# ont-srvprofile profile-id 1

OLT(ont-srvprofile-10)# ont-port eth 4 pots 2
OLT(config-ont-srvprofile-1)# port vlan eth 1 100
OLT(config-ont-srvprofile-1)# port vlan eth 3 300

Configure the IGMP mode as snooping, IGMP VLAN is untag mode, It will be stripped of
multicast messages vlan.

OLT(config-ont-srvprofile-1)# multicast mode igmp-snooping

OLT(config-ont-srvprofile-1)# multicast-forward untag

After the configurations are complete, run the commit command to apply the

OLT(ont-srvprofile-10)# commit
OLT(ont-srvprofile-10)# exit

Save all of configurations

OLT(config)# save

4.4 Add ONTs

Only when the ONT register to the OLT success , you can configure the service of the ONT.

So it is important to add ONT to OLT and register to the OLT.

Connect two ONTs to GPON port 4. Set the ONT IDs to 1 and 2, SNs to DB1920223344 and
AC120745660A. Bind the two ONTs to ONT line profile 1 and ONT service profile 1.

There are two methods of adding an ONT: add an ONT offline and confirm an automatically discovered
ONT.

 Add ONT one by one

OLT(config)# interface gpon

OLT(interface-gpon)# ont autofind 1 enable
OLT(interface-gpon)# show ont autofind 1
// This command displays all unregistered ONT messages connected to the GPON port
through the splitter
OLT(interface-gpon)# ont add 1 1 sn-auth DB1920223344 ont-lineprofile-id 1
ont-srvprofile-id 1
Add pon 1 onu 1 successfully.
OLT(interface-gpon)# ont add 1 2 sn-auth AC120745660A ont-lineprofile-id 1
ont-srvprofile-id 1
Add pon 1 onu 2 successfully.

 Add ONT in batch

The ont confirm command is used to add ONT batch, and you can add ONTs separately.

OLT(config)# interface gpon

OLT(interface-gpon)# ont autofind 1 enable
OLT(interface-gpon)# show ont autofind 1 all
// This command displays all unregistered ONT messages connected to the GPON port
through the splitter
OLT(interface-gpon)# ont confirm 1 sn-auth DB1920223344 ont-lineprofile-id 1
ont-srvprofile-id 1
Add pon 1 onu 1 successfully.
OLT(interface-gpon)# ont confirm 1 sn-auth AC120745660A ont-lineprofile-id 1
ont-srvprofile-id 1
Add pon 1 onu 1 successfully.

Note:

If multiple ONTs of the same type bound to the same line profile or service profile are
connected to the same port, you can bulk add ONTs by bulk confirming automatically
discovered ONTs to make configuration easier and more efficient. To do so, the preceding
command can be modified as follows::
OLT(interface-gpon)# ont confirm 1 all sn-auth ont-lineprofile-id 1 ont-srvprofile-id 1

4.5 Check ONT Status

After an ONT is added, run the show ont info command to query the current status of the ONT.

Ensure that Config flag of the ONT is active, Run State is online, Config state is normal, and

Match state is match.

OLT(interface-gpon)# show ont info 1 2

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
PORT-ID :1
ONT-ID :2
Control flag : Active
Run state : Online
Config state : Success
Match state : Match
...//The rest of the response information is omitted.
When Config state is failed, Run state is offline, or Match state is mismatch:

 If Control flag is deactive, run the ont active command in GPON mode to activate the
ONU.

 If Run state is offline, a physical line may be broken or the optical module may be
damaged. Check the line and the optical module.

 If Config state is failed, the configured ONU capability exceeds the actual ONU
capability.

 If the ONU does not match, that is, Match state is mismatch, the port types and
number of ports unmatch the actual port types and number of ports supported by the ONU.
In this case, run the show ont capability and show ont config-capability command to query
the actual capability of the ONU, and then select right one.

4.6 Configure Bridging ONT

This topic describes how to configure Internet access service and video service when bridging ONT is
used to build an FTTH network.

Prerequisites

 The OLT is connected to the uplink device success

 The ONT has been added to the OLT. For details, see 4.4 chapter.

 The VLAN of the LAN switch port connected to the OLT is consistent with the upstream VLAN of
the OLT.

Configuration Process

 ONT configuration:

1. Configure native-vlan of the ONT ports

Enter gpon configuration view. Configure the native-vlan of the first ONT on the OLT PON1
port to 100 for the Interne Internet service. The third port has a native-vlan of 300 for the
video service.

OLT(config)# interface gpon

OLT(config-interface-gpon)# ont port native-vlan 1 1 eth 1 vlan 100
OLT(config-interface-gpon)# ont port native-vlan 1 1 eth 3 vlan 300
2. Save the configuration。
OLT(config)# save

End

4.7 Configure gateway ONT

This topic describes how to configure Internet access service, voice service, BTV service and VoD service
when gateway ONT is used to build an FTTH network.
Gateway type ONT can provide Internet, voice and video services for FTTH, and supports PPPOE / DHCP
dialing, network address translation (NAT), multicast group management protocol (IGMP). This type of
ONT is mainly used for Layer 3 networks.
