WELCOME MESSAGE
Dear Colleagues,

In Bali paradise - the famed Island of Gods that we should meet up again. It’s more than a place; it’s mood,
an aspiration. The strategic team of Indonesian PICU NICU Update has prepared an exciting simultaneous
four days schedule for you on 26-27, 28-29 June 2019 with the theme “From the Womb to the Brighter World:
Implementing Evidence Based Practice to Improve Survival Rate and Long Term Outcomes in Newborn Infants
and Children” to fully load up on the latest information on neonatal and pediatric critical care with the expertise of
leading national and international figures.

Premature birth is the leading cause of neonatal death and second leading in children under 5. It’s significant to
determine the relative contribution of preterm birth to the burden of disease in children; to inform the planning of
healthcare interventions; and to address this burden from the teamwork of obstetric gynecologists, neonatologists
and pediatricians in general. Survival continues to improve for infants who are born at extremely early ages, but
long-term developmental concerns continue to be prevalent.

The 11th Indonesian PICU NICU Update 2019 is the forum to discuss the implementation of high evidence practices
for the care of very preterm infants and to assess their use & impact in routine clinical practice. Early outcomes
and strategies will likely yield the best chances to improve long-term outlook. In the 11th Indonesian PICU NICU
Update 2019, we review more comprehensive use of evidence based practices to result in considerable gains
for newborn infants and children, in terms of increased the long-term outcome for infants who were born preterm.

After joining this chapter we do hope the Registrants will get innovative ideas to address a renewed understanding
of the vital assessment with clear and aligned definitions of health outcomes in newborn and intervention
packages aimed to save lives and improve health in children.

Organized by collaboration of Pediatric Emergency and Intensive Care (ERIA) Working Group and Neonatology
Working Group/Indonesian Pediatric Society, and with the endorsement of Indonesian Pediatric Society – Bali
Branch, the annual Indonesian PICU NICU Update has been continuously kept Its work force to share Its leading
clinical and management practice innovations in the field of pediatric and neonates critical care to its growing
followers.

The 11th Indonesian PICU NICU Update is your opportunity to influence your specialty and promote the art and
science of paediatric and neonatal intensive care, raising awareness amongst doctors and other allied healthcare
professionals in the field. We aim to provide plenty of opportunities to interact and network with each other.

See you in Islands of Gods!
