Valve timing procedures

Removal/installation of timing chain requires:


Sump removal.
Temporarily fit crankshaft pulley bolt with washer and spacer [1] , [2] & [3].
Turn crankshaft clockwise to TDC on No.1 cylinder.
Ensure timing mark on exhaust camshaft sprocket aligned with timing mark on inlet camshaft adjuster [4].
Ensure timing mark on crankshaft sprocket aligned with mark on crankcase [5].
Align blue coloured chain link with crankshaft sprocket timing mark [6].
Align blue coloured chain link with exhaust camshaft sprocket timing mark [7].
Align blue coloured chain link with inlet camshaft adjuster timing mark [8].
Reset timing chain tensioner [9].
Turn tensioner pawl fully clockwise [11].
Push plunger into tensioner body in direction of arrow [10].
Turn tensioner pawl fully anti-clockwise [12].
Retain in position with suitable pin [13].

NOTE: Lubricate crankshaft pulley bolt during assembly.
