Testing Optimization
Onboard Testing tool

• ERTMSCamCorder full and synchronized record, replay and report of all trackside
and onboard data
• Avoids manual manipulations and reconciliation of data (JRU/videos)
• JRU decoding
• Synchronizes information (DMI/Track graph/Video) for testing before commissioning
• Shows the speed graph (incl balises, modes, speed types)
• Reduce time processing and tests
• Checks or proves that the infrastructure is ready
• 30% less occupation time on the tracks for testing purposes
• Independent from vendors (one single point gathering info from whoever the trackside vendor can be)
• ETCS L1, L2 but also national standards if requested
• 90% less post-processing time
• Replay used for trainings

Balise Predictive Maintenance

• BaliseLifeCheck Unattended & Automatic Balise Preventive Maintenance

• System automated for measuring and qualification of ERTMS Balises
• Especially Balise Group for announcement of the ETCS Level 2 area and management of the RBC session (MA)
• Onboard solution
• Independent of any other system (EVC)

• Generates ERTMS Subset 36 compliant TELEPOWERING signal

• Digitizes and stores the balise UPLINK signal at 200 M samples/sec
• Subset 85 lab-on-wheels

• Solution is not only extracting UPLINK signal coming from the balise/transponder for analyse but also implement
electrical analog measurements
These measurements can be used to perform predictive maintenance, because telegrams may still conform to the
subsets specifications, but electrically the signal from the balise/transponder is out of bounds

Maintenance Optimization
Balise Predictive Maintenance

• Generation of a full report after each test journey

• Information on the signal and the telegrams sent by the balise
• Detection of signal/telegram/bits issues
• Localization of the balises and creation of a cartography
• Prevents from emergency brakes and delays
• Action on maintenance only for deteriorated balises
• Allows real-time recording and replay after the journey
• Less manual maintenance

Testing Optimization
Workbench used for ERTMS trackside and train borne testing

• TestOBU.Sil0 is a cost effective pre-test solution that can easily be operated and allows to run these tests in a
Sil0 mode, without any risks and consequences.
• ERTMS Solutions has built this lightweight implementation of an onboard ERTMS application that can be
used either in a lab or onboard.
• The TestOBU.SIL0 has its own DMI, compliant with the applicable ERTMS standards Baseline 3 R2. In
comparison to the SIL4 EVC solution, the TestOBU.SIL0 is cost-effective and can be easily operated.

SAFETY OPTIMIZATION
Semantic platform to automate
100% the analysis of TRU/JRU data
recorded onboard trains

• Today decoding and analyzing TRU/JRU data requires several proprietary tools and several manual steps,
who do not allow mixing of information.
• The analysis team is often reduced to semi-manual, long and inefficient management, and often covers less
than 5% of the total train-kilometers traveled. It’s painful and ineffective.
• Moreover, operators have legal obligations to analyze or at least to store on a database these information!

• ERTMS Solutions has developed a platform that allows the rolling stock operator to:
o Extract and decode information from all the JRU/TRUs (Juridical Recording Unit - Data/Event Recorder) and
recording them in a usable format; thanks to our CodecNT decoder.
o Use our engine of semantic rules and custom business rules to identify and classify the information you want to
get.

Testing Optimization

• The detailed objectives are the following:

 Reading and decoding of all different types of TRU/JRU data (Juridical Recording Unit - Data/Event
Recorder), and recording them in a usable format.
 Automatic analysis of the data by connecting them to the reference infrastructure data and the rules
integrated in the application, in order to detect:
- exceedances of the authorized speed
- violations of the control rules
- emergency braking (vigilance, automatic standby, emergency braking following the CVR, signal
overruns, Eurobalise failures, power-engine failure, etc.)
- incorrect entries of train parameters in ETCS or National Automatic Train Control / ATP.
- service braking (during speed restrictions and late confirmation of ETCS/ATC/ATP changes)
-…
• Follow-up of detected infractions and management reporting based on these results.
• The resulting data is then accessible to those who analyze it, who can focus on value-added tasks instead of
manipulating data.
