Full Features Overview
64-bit OS Support
• 64-bit processes for all ASSET system components:
• ASSET
• CONNECT
• EDS
• ARRAYWIZARD
• Distributed Predictions (DP) and Distributed Arrays (DA)

• Faster project loading times, particularly for very large networks

• Larger data sets, supporting networks of over 750k cells with multiple
technologies, multiple carriers, complex antenna systems, etc.
• General performance and stability improvement due to less constraints
on memory usage
• Noticeable improvements in memory intensive tasks such as import/export,
algorithms, planners, simulations and traffic planning

5
LTE Carrier Aggregation (1 of 3)
• LTE Carrier aggregation is now available in ASSET. All modes, intra-
band contiguous, intra-band non-contiguous and inter-band carrier
aggregation, are supported
• The aggregation of TDD and FDD carriers, and any combination of
these, is possible
• Carrier aggregation in ASSET is not limited to the 3GPP Rel. 12 modes,
so it is possible to perform Carrier Aggregation of up to 10 UL and 10 DL
carriers.

6
LTE Carrier Aggregation (2 of 3)
• Carrier aggregation can be
defined at the eNodeB or Cell
level

• Carrier aggregation based eICIC

is now supported

• New attributes are supported on

the terminal types for LTE carrier
aggregation

• A new planning wizard is

available which can be used to
assign the identifiers of the
carrier-aggregated cell groups

7
LTE Carrier Aggregation (3 of 3)
Examples of single carrier coverage vs. two-carrier aggregation

Single high-frequency carrier Single low-frequency carrier

Carrier aggregation:
Green = 2 carriers,
Yellow = 1 carrier,
Red = no coverage
8
LTE PRACH RSI planner (1 of 2)
Adds the ability to automatically plan the LTE PRACH Root Sequence
Index (RSI). Assisted manual planning is also possible.

A detailed
modeling of
the PRACH
configuration,
and the RSI
assignment
per LTE cell, is
now available
in the Site
Database

9
LTE PRACH RSI planner (2 of 2)
ASSET users can expect the same detailed level of control they are used
to, as per our other LTE resource planners

configuration

Addition of Mod 6 & Mod 30 to PCI planner
• Modulo 6 and Modulo 30 planning rules are now available on the PCI planner
• This expands on the previously available Mod 3 rule that encompasses the
other two
• ASSET will now first try to avoid Mod30 clashes, then Mod6 clashes and finally
Mod3 clashes

11
VoLTE support
• ASSET V9.0 adds support for VoLTE planning
• TTI bundling, a pre-requisite for VoLTE, can be configured at the LTE
cell level and at the service level. This allows for the characteristics of
VoLTE to be taken into account when analyzing LTE networks

12
Additional methods for LTE UL bandwidth allocation
• “Maintain connection” and the “Use All RBs” methods of UL bandwidth
allocation in LTE are now available

13
Additional thresholds for MIMO adaptive switching
• Two new thresholds have been added to control MIMO adaptive
switching at the LTE cell level: an SINR threshold and a Traffic SINR
threshold. This allows for better modeling of the network behavior

14
Flexible traffic maps import
• ASSET now accepts traffic presented in a variety of units
(Terminals/Erlangs or milli-terminals/milli-Erlangs) and at a variety of
resolutions (per SqKm, per Bin size)
• These changes enhance ASSET’s ability to interact with geolocation tools

15
Export of the Interference Matrix in Forte AFP format
• ASSET can now export interference matrices (IMs) in TEOCO’s Forte
AFP format.

16
Per-cell arrays
• ASSET and ARRAYWIZARD can now produce per-cell (in isolation)
signal strength and link loss arrays in a batch-type operation.

cell arrays

17
Service area color rendering
• Users can now edit and control the colors chosen for service area
arrays when visualized in the ASSET GIS viewer. The chosen colours
are preserved in the database.

18
Multi user element reporting
• The messages given to users when an element becomes locked due to
its state among other users of the database (e.g. being edited by
someone else) have been enhanced. It also allows the locking to be
reported back to administrators for clearing.

a
User1 has inserted this
element and applied

When User2 tries to rename an existing element by this same

name following message is passed in User2’s message log.
User1 The identifier 'eNodeB9' of type eNodeB is not unique in the database. It is being referenced by these user(s):
Created User: 'User1' Modified User: 'User1' Object View: 'Insert' Visible ID: 'eNodeB9'
Unable to update eNodeB 'eNodeB10' to 'eNodeB9' into database because it already exists in the database.

b User1, creates a service User2, assigns this service

(‘NS1’) and commits it. to a terminal and applies it.

User 1, attempts to delete User1 gets following message and in its message box.
the service.
The element 'NS1' of type Service cannot be deleted into the wastebasket. It is being referenced by these element(s):
Created User: 'NETWORK_PLANNING' Modified User: 'User2' Object View: 'Updated' Visible ID: 'GSM-UMTS-
LTE-WiFi Default' Type: 'Terminal Type' Reason: In use by this element. Project: 'Jersey'

19
Default workspace layout
• This provides users with a default layout and gives ASSET the ability to
remember the last layout used. It expands on the workspace feature
introduced in previous releases to include more ASSET windows.

20
New direct-access buttons and icon grouping
• There are new direct-access buttons for the Site Reporter, the Filter
Wizard and the Selection Expert. This will facilitate quick access to
them.

Filter Wizard Selection Expert Site reporter

• In addition, the 2D view icons have been re-grouped in order to improve

ease-of-access to similar features and of the most commonly used
icons

21
Grid Data Loader (1 of 2)
• The Grid Data Loader enables users to copy/paste data from Excel or to
load it from a file, edit it and then load it directly into ASSET without the
user having to manipulate XML files.
• It supports *.csv, *.xls and *.xlsx formats for import of data.

22
Grid Data Loader (2 of 2)
• The Grid Data Loader can perform a validation to help the user clean the
data before loading into ASSET
• The import of data takes the user’s permissions into account.
• The user can optionally save XML files for later use.

23
Joint GSM-UMTS-LTE & Wi-Fi analyses
• It is now possible to run multi-technology analysis combining GSM,
UMTS, LTE and Wi-Fi technologies
• New array outputs have been added

24
