1.0 PURPOSE

1.1 The purpose of this method statement is to provide the requirements and construction
methology or the installation works of roofing and cladding for steel structure shelter in
JAZAN REFINERY and TERMINAL PROJECT Package 12-Aromatic and Naphtha Area.

2.0 SCOPE

2.1 This method statement shall cover procedure for the roofing and cladding installation
works for steel structure shelter in JAZAN REFINERY and TERMINAL PROJECT Package
12- Aromatic and Naphtha Area. This also includes general requirements for job
specifications, quality assurance workmanship and required safety procedures for the
correct implementation and completion of work.

3.3 Inspection and Test Plan / Method Statement.


3.3.1 Drawing of roofing panel, cladding or side wall panel & ventilator.
3.3.2 Inspection of alignment of cladding and gable trim, eaves trim, closure trim
and fixing screw and ridge panel.
3.3.3 Inspection of lapping of roof panel, side wall panel and vent panel.

4.0 RESPONSIBILITIES
1.1 Construction Manager shall be responsible for all HSE matter and to study, analyze and schedule
all construction activities with his department to include manpower and equipment line up as well as
other possible resources required for the successful implementation of the construction work
activities. Study all aspects of work procedure as per DEC/JGC technical scope of work.
1.2 Roofing supervisor shall study and review all necessary documents for the installation works in his
area to include, technical scope of work, specification, bill of quantities, planned milestone dates
and construction procedure.
1.3 Roofing foreman shall be responsible for the direct work supervision at site to ensure that the work
will be performed in accordance with DEC/JGC Technical Scope of work and latest approved for
construction drawings. He shall monitor the availability of materials in line with his required
schedule.
1.4 The Surveyor shall be responsible to check the verticality alignment of side panel to ensure that all
panels are aligned.
1.5 QC Inspector shall be responsible of monitoring and inspection of the work to ensure that the work
is performed in accordance with DEC/JGC Technical Scope of work and Standards.
1.6 Safety Supervisor / Officer shall be responsible in monitoring safety aspects and ensuring that the
work will be done in accordance with DEC/JGC Safety Standard Procedure. He shall give
reminders or advise to the workers to do the activity safety.

5.0 MANPOWER

6.0 TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT

6.1 Tools and equipment needed should be in good condition and must be checked by Engineer,
Supervisor and Safety Officer prior to use in the construction area. These Includes but not limited
as below.

6.1.1 Hydraulic crane/crawler crane with complete accessories


6.1.2 Man lift
6.1.3 Electric grinder machine
6.1.4 Electric drill machine
6.1.5 Auto level or level machine and total station
6.1.6 Tag line nylon rope
6.1.7 Reviter

7.0 METHODS / PROCEDURE

7.1 Job site Receiving inspection

7.1.1 When unloading materials delivered to the job site, method of unloading shall be done
enable to minimize damage of painted surface.
7.1.2 Unloaded roofing materials should be segregated properly according piece mark number
for immediate identification.

7.1.3 Material that has damage during or after unloading shall be replaced or repaired to the
original condition.

8.0 PREPARATORY WORKS.

8.1 Site access shall be done, and safe access for all intended site vehicles including delivery
vehicle and cranes for the area of structure where to install the roofing and side wall
panels.
8.2 Storage and erection area location of area shall be clean, level and ready.
8.3 Clearing of obstructions, below ground, above ground or any overhead obstructions.
8.4 The structure shall be completed and all nescessary inspection shall be completed such as;
Alignment inspection, bolt tightening inspection and all touch up paint for all damage paint
shall be done prior to installation of roofing and sidings.
8.5 Using approved and latest drawings, verification of dimension, locations and alignment of
roof and wall frame including the punrlins and side girth, angle, and channel where the
panels are supported and anchored.
8.6 Any unsatisfactory conditions shall be subject for rectification prior to erection of roof and wall
panels.
8.7 Coordinate the availability of materials and accessories in accordance with the proper
sequence of installation works.
8.8 Anticipate any obstruction or interference of installation works, position of the crane and man
lift as per installation plan.
8.9 Man lift shall be used for the installation and alignment of side wall panels.
8.10 Barricade the working area and provide safety caution sign.
8.11 Scaffolds shall be provided with adequate and safe access to and from the work platform.

9.0 WALL PANELS INSTALLATION


9.1 Using crane to lift the panel and place in the exact location.
9.2 Panel shall be aligned and fastened using manlift while wall panel are lifted by crane with (2)
two manpower to perform the installation works.
9.3 Position the panels accurately on the steel structure frame, adjust accordingly to the final
position before fix and fastening.

9.4 After alignment of panels, secure the panels using the fastener with the electric drill machine,
fastener location shall be as shown in the vendor drawing.
9.5 Install the next panel in accordance with the same procedure and as per vendor specification
such as; lapping of panels and location of fastener.
9.6 For the installation of gable trim, flashing, ventilator; please refer to the vendor drawing and
specification.
9.7 For the required opening of roof and wall panels, filed cutting to suit, Extra care for drilling
and cold cutting using cut off machine or tin snip cutter, metal fillings, drill shaving and burr
shall be removed from adjacent surface prior to installation of panels.
9.8 Components and accessories to complete the wall panel assembly such as; closure trim,
fastener, drip trim and eave trim.

10.0 ROOF PANELS INSTALLATION

10.1 Ensure lifelines are secured installed at rooftop, Access the rooftop through sccafolding.
10.2 Using crane for the lifting of roof panels at the rooftop, tinsmith and workers at the rooftop
shall be position the panels and installed at the exact locations.
10.3 Position the panels accurately on supporting frame or structure. Adjust accordingly to
final position with proper bearing before fix or fastener.
10.4 After alignment is done secure the panel using the fastener with electric drill machine with
care.
10.5 Install the next roof panels in the same procedure as above, ensure the correct
orientation of each panels, anticipate the requirement for the lapping, end trim, joint filler
and sealant.
10.6 Install all accessories in accordance with vendor catalog, drawings and specification.

11.0 QUALITY CONTROL


11.1 QA/QC inspectors shall conduct the inspection, documentation, test, sampling and other
requirements needed.
11.2 QA/QC Inspectors shall record and file all the necessary documents duly signed and
approved by the company representative in all aspects of work.
11.3 Check the current status of approved FOR CONSTRUCTION DRAWING to meet the
requirements of the project.

12.0 SAFETY PRECAUTION

12.1 Approved work permit should be obtained prior to start any repair works.
12.2 Work Execution shall be carried out in accordance with this method of statement.

12.3 All crew must carried out a safety risk assessment prior to start of any new activity.
12.4 The necessary manpower inclusive of supervisory staff, tools, equipment, materials,
and other resources required must be available and ready to use.
12.5 Workers should wear their PPE’s always.
12.6 Good housekeeping must be maintained in the duration of works.
12.7 Safety Supervisor / Officer shall monitor compliance of entire working crew for the safety
procedure until the work is fully completed.
12.8 DEC/Subcontractors shall make sure that all be incident and injury free.

►Always use hazardous substances with care, ensuring they are
suitably stored and empty containers are property disposed of
►Oil and fuel cans, etc., should be stored and used so that leakages
/spillages can be contained consider hard standings bund, spill trays,
spill absorbs, etc.
►Ensure all plant and equipment is well maintained to ensure it is
running efficiently-no smoke, oil leaks etc.
►Do not run plant or equipment when not in use
►Do not waste water by using leaking hoses of running taps
unnecessarily
Damage to environment
Pollution control ►Reduce dust by damping down materials, roads, truck loads
and water courses
►Be aware if your site borders any watercourse.
►Do not allow dumping near banks.
►Water can carry pollutants over significant distances, and can
contaminate local drinking supplies
►Near pour any contaminants down storm drains or gullies
►Near use watercourses for cleaning tools, etc, and never store
hazardous substances nearby
►Store potential contaminants in authorized stowage and do not take
more than is required to the worksite
►Keep secure storage facilities locked with appropriate key control
Comments
1. JSA should be used in conducting Tool Box Talks(TBT0) with all concerned workers
2. Provide that all the necessary PPE are used, relevant PTW requirements are followed and all the control measures stated above are
adhered to, the activity can proceed.
