Chapter 1

Molly with Jackie lived in the country near Cambridge, in a big and old house with a beautiful garden. On Thursday
morning in July, Molly's younger daughter, Diane,called to ask for money, because she lived in London and had no
money for the train ticket. She wanted to be a singer but she could never get work. When mother entered the room,
Jackie says that Peter Hobbs is angry with her, because of her, he has lost his job. It was his first job, and he says that
he is going to kill Molly.
Chapter 2

Saturday evening at the Clarkson' home arrived Albert, the husband of Molly's sister. It was Molly’s fifteenth birthday
and she invited all her family to have the dinner. At the party they talk only about money. Albert relates that his wife,
Annie is much worse now.She stays in bed all the time and needs a nurse twenty-four hours a day, that is very
expensive. Molly never liked talking about her sister Annie and she did not like visiting her because she was very ill.

Then Diane added that she don't like cheap things and she is going to need more money soon because she want to go
to America.

Also they talked about Tom Briggs. He wants half of Molly's garden for his farm. Molly adds that He's always dirty and
he has bad teeth.'

Roger was Molly's son, her second child. He said that the house and garden are very big and his mother needs to be
more careful. In reality, he wants Molly to sell her house.

Molly was very angry. She said that Nobody will get more money , not before she die.”Then she went upstairs and
went to bed. Others go to the kitchen to drink coffee.

Chapter 3

Molly was very angry. She said, “Nobody is getting more money from me, not before I die.” Then she went upstairs
and went to bed. Then, Rogercalls Dr. Pratt – the family doctor to come. After examining Molly’s body, the doctor
suspects that Mrs Clarkson was killed and suggests that Roger call the police.

Chapter 4

A lot of police officers arrive,including two detectives. One is Detective Inspector Walsh, and the other is Sergeant
Foster.

They mentioned that last night someone put sleeping tablets in Mrs. Clarkson's hot milk. The police talked to
everybody and tried to find the killer. Firstly, the detectives talk with Uncle Albert. He said the police that each family
member was angry. In that evening he asked for money for his sick wife. After that, he first went upstairs to say good
night Molly.

Jackie told detectives that Peter Hobbs wanted to kill Molly. She also said that money is not important to her. But she
was nervous.

Chapter 5

After, Inspector Walsh called Roger Clarkson to the office. He told police he wanted his mother to move, but she loved
his house too much. Also he wanted to build ten houses in this garden. Inspector Walsh said that they found the empty
bottle of sleeping tablets, in Diane's room. However, Roger was sure that someone put them there because Diane did
not kill mother.

Diane said in that evening she made hot milk for mother. She confess that she wanted to kill her, but she doesn't.
Molly killed her husban, last winter when she drove the car into a tree. Also, Diane told Jackie's secret. Jackie loved a
man, Tom Briggs, a poor gardener. But Molly said that A gardener was not a good husband for a Clarkson girl!nWhen
the police tell Diane that they found the emptry bottle of sleeping pills in her room, she says she doesn't know how it
got there.
Chapter 6

Next, two detectives go to see Peter and Tom and ask some similar questions. Detective Walsh finds an important clue
in Briggs' house- a picture of a young woman.

Chapter 7

When Walsh meets the whole family, he is almost convinced who put sleeping tablets in Molly’s hot milk and killed her.
The killer turned out to be Jackie. She admitted that she wanted to be happy. She loved Tom, but Molly would not let
her marry Tom Briggs.

She revealed herself in the moment when she says that Diane must be a suspect because the bottle was found in her
bag. But before, Walsh tells only that the police had found the emtly bottle in Diane's room.
