days will that last you? Are staff having to reuse them at this point?
o Right now Fairview Park Hospital has the bed capacity, staffing, and supplies and
equipment needed to care for our community. We are currently following the CDC
contingency capacity strategy regarding the use of N95 masks. As a part of HCA
Healthcare, a connected network of more than 1,800 sites of care, we have access to
key resources from across the country.
 What elective surgeries are currently being performed at Fairview Park Hospital? Why? How
many per day?
o Sent Ensley Nichols at 13WMAZ this statement yesterday in regards to Elective Surgeries
at Fairview Park Hospital:
 Consistent with recommendations from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid
Services (CMS), we are postponing elective surgeries and procedures.
 We are NOT postponing surgeries where a delay might negatively impact a
patient’s health or turn their situation into an emergency.
 Case-by-case decisions are being made by our physicians. They are best able to
determine any risk posed by delaying surgery for an open-ended, unknown
amount of time.
 The goal is to balance the short and long-term health of our patients while
preserving personal protective equipment (PPE) and other supplies for a
possible surge of COVID-19 patients.
 Where are overflow care areas being prepared?
o We are planning for a possible surge of COVID-19 patients and have identified
potential overflow areas, but we are not seeing it yet. We still have substantial
capacity.
 When and where can auxiliary testing sites be expected?
o Please contact the Department of Health / South Central Health District.
