COVID-19 Staff Vaccine

Manager briefing and staff

information
Why have the vaccine?
• The COVID-19 vaccination programme is the biggest in NHS history

• It’s the way we can get out of this pandemic and return to normality as soon as possible

• Health and social care workers have been shown to have a higher risk of acquiring COVID-19 due to
the environment they work in

• The increase in COVID-19 patients hospitals are seeing and the emergence of a new variant of the
virus underlines the importance of getting the vaccine quickly

• By having the vaccine, you are protecting yourself, your family and our patients from serious illness
and possible death

• As NHS and social care staff, we have a responsibility to our patients and colleagues

• Across the NCA we have been running our vaccination programme since early December and have
so far to date (20 January) vaccinated over 14,000 people, including 12,000 staff
More information about the vaccines
• We have good supplies of both vaccines (Pfizer and Oxford/AstraZeneca) across the NCA

• Both vaccines have passed rigorous safety tests. The MHRA, the official UK regulator, have said that
both of these vaccines have good safety profiles, efficacy and offer a high level of protection, and we
have full confidence in their expert judgement and processes

• In line with national instructions we will reschedule all second dose appointments that are scheduled
over the next two weeks with a 2-3 week gap between doses to extend these to a 10-12 week gap.

• For colleagues who were previously booked for your follow-up second dose, if you have not heard
from us to rearrange your next appointment, please do still attend.

• A detailed review of the vaccines and their ingredients have been provided by MHRA. More info below.

How do I get my vaccine at work?
• All NCA staff are invited to have their vaccine this month

• We will continue to rapidly vaccinate ALL (clinical and non-clinical) remaining staff with the first dose.

• We aim to vaccinate all of our NCA staff by the end of Sunday 24 January

• This includes all patient-facing staff in our hospitals and in the community across our Care
Organisations, and also our corporate and back office colleagues (in the expectation that many will
be called to support patient facing work), students, bank and agency staff, volunteers, and
contractors (essential to frontline work) who work on our sites

• There are staff vaccine clinic slots available 7 days a week across our Care Organisation sites at
Salford, Oldham, Bury and Rochdale, with evening slots available too

• It’s a really quick, simple and safe process to book an appointment

• You can book your vaccine slot online at any of our Care Org by visiting:
