PRESENTATIONS:

Each student has to present or participate in the group presentation of an author

or a country/institution.

Scheduled presentations include presentations of authors/schools of thought and of

institutions of countries. The texts of the lectures are NOT objects of presentations.
The lectures will have to be read and commented in class by all of us. Presentations
are meant to give additional input. They are meant to help those who only have
read the texts.

Presentation of an author or a school of thought requires presenting the author

(short cv), how he/she defined and why he/she defended federalism, eventually
where he/she received influences from, where he/she exercised influence upon,
against whom he/she argued and who argued against him/her.

Presentation of an institution of one or more countries means to explain its

federal/non federal character (particularly the relation of shared rule and self rule,
its main features, advantages and inconveniences, critiques, tendencies of
development..). Please don’t present the whole political system of a given country.
If you present the historical development, stick to your topic, and PLEASE shy
away from presenting the whole history of a political system…. Further indications
are eventually given in each context and/or may be asked for.

Remember that the topic of the PRESENTATION must be different from the
subject of your individual PAPER. For choosing a presentation, use the list. For
proposing a topic for the paper, consult the course director.

To avoid overloading the last sessions, you are required to choose your topic for
the presentation as soon as possible.

The following schedule is approximate in regarding to the dates of the sessions the
topics are dealt with, as the extension on discussing each case depends on the
interest of the participants.
