DEVELOPMENTAL LEVEL

Based from the data, the client is currently 6 years old, which is under the School Age. In this
age, the child is expected to be very energetic. The child will also develop greater strength,
coordination and stamina.

Psychosexual Development

In terms of Freud’s Psychosexual Development, the client is under the Latency Stage wherein
the child uses energy to gain new skills, social relationship and knowledge with peers and adults
outside the family. According to Cherry (2019), during this period, the emphasis on the super
ego is much greater which is based on the children’s belief or culture that tells them what is right
and what is wrong relating to their social conduct. The sexual drive or libido is also controlled
and repressed in this stage.

Psychosocial Development

For Psychosocial Development, the client is under the Industry vs Inferiority stage wherein the
child becomes capable of performing increasingly complex tasks which strives them to master
new skills (Cherry, 2019). In this stage, the child learns to live with others, they always ask
questions using “how”, “why”, and “what” because they are curious in every single thing around
them and they also like doing chores that can be finished quickly.

Cognitive Development

For Piaget’s Cognitive Development, the client is under the Preoperational: Intuitive Thought
stage. According to Oswalt (n.d.), in this sub-stage, the child tends to grow curious and they
learn by asking question such as “why”, and “how come?”. Piaget believes that children tend to
be very certain of their knowledge but they are unaware of how they gained that knowledge in
the first place. Children also lack sight to view themselves as others see them or put themselves
in another’s place, with this, they always feel that they are right.

Moral Development

For Moral Development, the client is under Good Interpersonal Relationship: Good Boy/Girl
Attitude stage. According to Cherry (2019), this stage focuses on living up to the social
expectations and roles and maintaining social order. In this stage, children lie to disguise that
they have been involved in an action that is not nice. They are also being taught not to steal
since it is not nice and fair.
