INTRODUCTION

The purpose of this School Based Assessment is to find out how are pregnant teenagers treated in

the Sea Cows Bay community. The researcher will be going around the community to distribute

some questionnaire surveys in order to get responds from the community individuals. The

researcher will be comparing the different responds and interpret it in figures showing the

percentages per the selected questions.

2
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

Why is teenage pregnancy prevalent in the British Virgin Island? How are pregnant teenagers

treated in the community of Sea Cows Bay.

REASON FOR SELECTING AREA OF RESEARCH

I choose this topic because there are many pregnant teens in my community. Teenage pregnancy

may be linked to things such as lack of education and information about reproduction, peer

pressure and early engagement in sexual activity. I want to identify the factors that cause teenage

pregnancy, I also would like to find out persons opinion on teenage pregnancy and its impact on

the teenagers and their family.

The method of investigation the researcher used to gather information was questionnaires. The

researcher used it because of the following advantages:

1. It is easy to complete by respondents as it requires a short time.

INTERPRETATION

Many individuals studied their religion as the main reason for their responds based on the

questions. Many females who went through pregnancy during their teen age believe that there

should be a better way to abort this topic amount young ladies and that it is needed. Some

females don’t be mentally, physically or emotionally ready to become a teenage mother.

Individuals believe that the school should give young females the opportunity to go back and

complete their studies after giving birth because we are not perfect to judge nobody but also you

doesn’t want to be that person who didn’t give them an opportunity , people make mistakes and

wrong decisions but not because you have a child mean your life is done.

Many teenagers think about abortion believing it’s the easier way to overcome the situation but

it’s not because there will be consequences in their future after committing an abortion

15
FINDINGS

This investigation revealed a number of opinion that people of the Sea Cows Bay community has
on Teenage pregnancy, these are the follow:

Teenagers are getting pregnant because some parents doesn’t get involved in their child life in
order to encourage and help them in hard decisions.

Some schools don’t provide an area to talk with young people about sex and it consequences.

Young individuals let drugs and alcohol affect their decisions in one second.

People will always judge without knowing the other situation, there are many females that
become a mother because of rape but choose t keep the child.

16
RECOMMENDATIONS

To each and all young females in this earth sometimes you have to be careful and have

responsibilities for certain decisions you make or take and if you know you aren’t stable and

ready for this responsibilities the best thing to do is to use protection or talk to your parents about

the topic sometimes parents sound like a disc saying the same thing over and over but them only

want what’s best for you and you to have the opportunities them didn’t had.

Don’t take abortion as a option there are many other option out there, you doesn’t choose who

life matters each and every one has their own mission to earth. Having a child is not a mistake is

a life gift there are many females wo wish to be a mother but for medical conditions cannot have

one, so why would you choose to kill a child.
