SAP CSM Release Notes

August 2011

Dear SAP practitioners

We are pleased to share with you the following summary of updates that were done as a result of the ACE lockdown in
Cape Town, South Africa and the CSM lockdown in Miami, US earlier this year:

ACE updates:

GTL extended and aligned with Wiki/CSM‘s for Finance (New General Ledger), Order to Cash, Product Costing,
Project Systems, Treasury, ITGC, Solution Manager, and the Utilities Industry Solution.

CSM updates:

Summary:

At the CSM lock-down in Miami, new content was developed to address new and emerging technologies
such as SAP Business Planning and Consolidation (BPC) which is the premier unified planning, forecasting,
and consolidation system on the market. Additional content was also added to existing CSMs, work
programs, and practice aids in the following areas: New General Ledger, Order to Cash, Product Costing,
Project Systems, Solution Manager, and the Utilities Industry Solution. This content addresses additional
classes of transactions to enhance our audit work programs as well as strengthen our consulting tools and
methodologies in the SAP space. Maintenance was performed on the Treasury and ITGC CSMs, work
programs, and practice aids to streamline the existing content and embed a risk based approach.

Specific:

1. General tab worksheets have been updated to reflect updates to direct risks, indirect risks and indirect direct risks.
2. ITGC - A new CSM has been built for ITGCs. Overall the ITGC controls have been updated to add more detail
(including the Wiki) and were streamlined. Control rationale has been added to the ITGC CSM. An "alternative
procedures should the control fail" section has been added to the Wiki where applicable for all controls. Solution
Manager control solutions and controls have been merged into the ITGC CSM.
3. SolMan - A new variant for SolMan was created and integrated within the ITGC CSMs to supplement existing
controls. These will mainly be in the change management and system management section. Five new control
solutions were created for work center navigational roles within Solution Manager (new functionality) and relevant
SAP delivered SolMan roles for each high risk work center. 15 controls exist for SolMan covering change
management and system management components. Controls were either created or updated with relevant technical
and audit information, new screen shots, interpretation, and the configuration were tested in the sandbox. Rationale
for each control was also added to help the practitioners understand and be able to test the controls.
4. Acquire-To-Retire (ATR) – The variant “Capital Projects” in the ATR process is applicable to clients who use SAP
Project Systems module for large scale projects related to capital investments. There is a high degree of integration
between the Project Systems module and the Asset Management module. As part of the CSM lock down activity in
Miami, significant updates were done to the control solutions and controls in this variant. Six additional control
solutions were added (this includes eleven new controls) and three existing control solutions were updated (this
includes five new controls). One new risk was also added for “Capital Projects” variant under “Acquisitions and Capital
Projects” sub-process. Other small updates were done to improve the quality of the existing content.
5. Order-To-Cash (OTC) - two new variants have been added related to Services Sales of non-physical services based
on contracts and related to Services of non-physical services based on contracts which resulted in the creation of six
new control solutions and eight new controls. The existing control OTCC018 has been. A new invoice related risk area
has been added to the CSM tab.
6. Financial Accounting (FGL) - new variant “Parallel Accounting - Portrayal of Parallel Ledger” has been created for
new general ledger and risks mapped to 6 new control solutions, EGAs have been created for the new controls. New
control solutions created are as follows:
a. FGLS033 - Foreign currency valuation / translation (Automated)
b. FGLS034 - Foreign currency valuation (Manual)
c. FGLS035 - Reclassification of AR/ AP balances (Automated)
d. FGLS036 - Reclassification of AR/ AP balances (Manual)
e. FGLS037 - Value adjustments in AR balances (Automated)
f. FGLS038 - Value adjustments in AR balances (Manual)

Acquire-To-Retire (ATR) – There no changes to CSM. A new control has been added; 2 controls have been modified
to incorporate the requirements of New GL; New GL menu path has been incorporated in the wiki controls, wherever
required. EGA has been created for new control.
7. Treasury (TRE) – 2 new variants have been created for long-term debt management and treasury-wide
considerations and risks mapped to 4 new control solutions. EGA's have been created for all treasury controls. SAP
Treasury implementation considerations have been added to guide these reviews. In addition, provided input to
facilitate the creation of a GTL at the ACE lockdown. **
8. SAP Business Planning and Consolidation (BPC) - CSM for the Netweaver Platform was developed
predominantly around the consolidation subprocess with control solutions for account hierarchies,
validations, eliminations, currency translations, and inter-company transactions. Controls were
developed around master data, journal entries, workflow configurations, and restricted access to key
functions. This content can be used for both audit and consulting engagements.
9. Inventory (MIM) - The inventory management section has been updated to introduce repetitive manufacturing. With
the introduction of repetitive manufacturing, the CSM has been updated to include five additional control solutions that
are applicable to repetitive manufacturing. Within these five solutions, 13 repetitive-manufacturing specific controls
were identified, drafted, and included in the EGAs and WIKI.
10. Utilities (IS-U) - published a comprehensive CSM for the IS-U solution, covering SAP-CRB (CCS & CRM) and SAP-
WMS, containing 46 new control solutions. Additionally 170 new controls were added to the Wiki. The team also
developed practice aid content for SAP-WMS, enhanced SAP-CRB practice aid content and provided input to
facilitate the creation of a GTL at the ACE lockdown.

** Note that these updates have also been applied to the Aura libraries, but may not be immediately available in
every territory. Contact your local Aura implementation team for a timeline.
